Default the real deal on the fit "issues".....

my wife and i are looking for a new/newer ride. we test drove a sport AT tonight. needless to say she loves it. i've been reading about the few issues people are having. the paint chipping, wind noise, dash rattles, etc. i'm kinda worried about buying a new car if this is the stuff thats gonna happen. she doesn't want to hear about that though, cause "it's so cute". when the guy was telling me about the warranties, i asked about the exterior, especially the paint. he said there really isn't a warranty on the paint.

i was impressed by it though. it drove/handled nice. would you let this stuff persuade you too pass on the purchase? i myself am trying too talk her into a used, like 04ish tsx.

to buy, or not to buy.
opinions please.

I've had mine for only 2 weeks and it's my 1st brand new car. I took the extended warranty for 6 years. Paint isn't usually covered but I would get more info from the dealer or even Honda. I was at a friends country place over the weekend (dirt roads) and when I got back yesterday I noticed that the paint on the lift points peeled off at the edges. I'm going to look into that at my local dealer this week because it seems a little early for that to happen. With regards to noises and rattles I had mine at a good speed (we will leave it at that) it was as quiet as a baby. Yes it's new but some 3rd world countries have better roads than where I live. Put it this way... they ripped up a 2ft wide section on a busy boulevard and filled it with gravel BUT... no warning sign of any sort you just come up to it abruptly and this is a "Normal" practice. The final decision rests with you but my opinion of the car is that it's a great buy.

I've had my Fit for 2 weeks now. I took my car on 2 road trips (one to MI and one to upper WI) from Chicago, and put plenty of miles on my car in that time. This is my first NEW car, and I honestly love it. I have not noticed a lot of wind noise, and I did a lot of highway driving at fairly excessive speeds. I haven't noticed any bumper rattling, although I heard something while driving in the woods in WI that might have come from my car, but the sound has not been heard since I was listening for it.

Regardless, I highly recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a great value and a great, versatile vehicle. I have the sport AT and am very content with my decision to get the fit over anything else. I also got the 8 year, 100K mile warranty. I believe the paint chipping has been talked about to death on these threads, and the consensus was that most Honda cars have shitty paint jobs- it's not just the Fit. Also, I would not recommend getting the paint protector- a friend who works at Honda said it does not help and is a waste of money. Just do what you can to take care of the car.

Hopefully my 2 cents helps. Tell your wife to go with the Fit- she's gonna love it!

thanx for the replies. i understand that every new car has it's flaws, but a design flaw where the bumper rubs the body panel to the point where paint peels would seriously anger me for the amount of $ spent. i guess i'm too fussy. i just want it to last if we get it. it will be our first new car as well. nighthawk black pearl is her choice, and she wants new rims....gosh where does she get this stuff from???? don't forget the intake and exhaust honey......

keep opinions coming.

all paints chip no matter what. Rocks expletive you over where ever you go just get a bra or something if you dotn want it happening or 3m clear bra. Honda paint is generally a nice one. In 2-3 years you'll probably need to repaint the front bumper if your very **** about a few chips here n there. anyways i say buy the newer car its always better to have owned a newer car then a second hand car.
