Default liquid gasket for coolant drain bolt

Hey guys, I had a quick question.. The helms calls for a new crush washer and some liquid gasket on the coolant drain bolt, so I got some permatex high temp. thread sealant for the coolant drain bolt, but how much am i supposed to use? im not supposed to cover the entire bolt right? just like a few of the first threads because as you thread the bolt in it'll take the excess and cover the rest of the bolt right?

sorry, i never used thread sealant before so i'm not quite sure....

crush washer is good enough. or use a rubber gasket from plumbing or hardware store. you dont have to use liquid gasket. rubber gasket is good enough.

helms says to use liquid gasket on the coolant bolt..... so i figured i should use it then... it won't hurt, since i already bought it.
