Default air intakes on ebay

I just got a '02 civic lx 2DR and i was looking on ebay for an air intake and found a lot of cheap no name ones. does anyone have first hand experience with these? is it really worth it to pay $100 more for a brand name product?

I say just stick with a honda oem air filter or k&n filter.
I have a k&n filter in my car right now. I've had it for I think 17,xxx mi. no probs.

EDIT:
OEM Filter @ $14.83

man i got a no name off ebay. and it works just like everyone of them. and bolts on just like everyone of them. the one i got was polished and had the blue filter and blue connectors. i think it was like $20 dollars, and definately worth it.

Nevermind the fact that the generic filter element is probably letting through all kinds of dirt and crap...

Hope you change your oil often.

I bought one of those cheap e-bay intakes for my last 7th gen and well I shouldve spent a little more $$ or bought a used one. 1 thing I bought a CAI and it would not fit right so I ended up just running it like a short ram. I have to buy all new hardware to install it because the stuff it came with did not fit or line up for some reason. Wasnt to major of a deal just a trip to the parts store but a small hassel non the less. Buy a used name brand one if you cannot afford a new one instal will be alot smoother in the end. Ive used AEM cold air, Injen Cold Air and short ram, and Ebay on 7th gens.

this has been covered before, like many have said intakes won't help in performance wise rather than give a nice sound to the motor. besides that an intake is an intake, it's a piece of pipe with a filter at the end(just make sure you have a good filter). with some ebay intakes you might have problems with fitment. IMO either buy a used name brand short ram or cold air or dont buy an intake at all.

I used a K&N intake. I don't think that it really gave any extra power if it did it was minimal, but it gave my 01 LX a really nice sound. It cost me a cool $270.

the only legitimate reason to buy a k&N or an aem is if you live in california where you need the CARB sticker

i had an ebay short ram for a good year and it was nice enough for me. a little rattle sometimes when it bumped under the hood. other than that the filter was great. fitment was whatever. dont buy an ebay cold air itll never work and ur more than likley going to have it fall off and run over when ur vtecke kicks in yo
