Earthing Kit Installed Tonight
I was bored tonight so I finally put together an Earthing Kit. I have had good experiences with them so I thought it wouldn't hurt to do it on a 16year old car as the condition of the original grounds is probably pretty $hitty. I had one on my DC5, S13, and EHB (Echo Hatch Back). It wasn't too difficult as I had a spare bracket. Used about 10ft of 8awg powercable and some 1/4" 8awg spades. What do you guys think?
I added grounds to the:
-intake manifold
-valve cover
-power steering pump
-fire wall
I will add one more to the tranny but the spades I have aren't large enough.

Looks like a big mess. Applaud the idea of doing it yourself but take the time to make it look nice. It just looks like a big spaghetti mess under there with ground wires goign overwhere. Were you just trying to get a little colour under there? If I were you I'd just clean your engine bay for it to look better instead of adding forty bucks worth of wire.

Idle was smoother and lights were brighter. Also noticed that he sound from stereo was marginally better.
Who cares if it is ugly...the bottom of my car is ugly too. I just wanted to show you what I did. Wasn't showing off my engine bay or anything.

You grounded the firewall to the battery?
Take a minute here and think about it....the battery mounts to the frame which is directly welded to the firewall (or you could say the firewall is part of the frame). It's doing nothing at all...maybe take that one off.

Should I take that one off and connect it to the starter casing or the tranny instead? I wanted to add one to the tranny but didn't have a big enough spade connector.
Do you have any other suggestions?

Well, consider the starter bolts right to the tranny so that's not much of a concern itself. What I would suggest is finding the stock tranny ground wire and cleaning/sanding the mounting points and replacing it with one of those wires from the kit. That will cover the tranny, block, starter, etc... Then do another one from the head to ground and one from the intake manifold to ground.
Also, you can just bolt these wires to a bare metal spot on the frame...it's the same thing as the negative terminal on the battery.
Just find a spot on the unibody and sand it down and apply some dielectric grease to keep any rust away.
It's definately good to have solid grounds, but some people go a bit crazy with these bling grounding kits...
