Default Prelude sluggish from the start...

I just purchased a used 94 H23 Prelude. It runs real good except from a stop. When you are at the light and press the gas, it falls on it's face. It takes off super slow but once it is moving it has decent power. I don't pull any codes and don't know what would cause this. Any suggestions?

is it a manual or an auto, cuz if its man. then it could be a clutch problem, new clutch would help... also it could be ur gas/clutch combo as ur leaving. With the auto, not too sure.

preludes weight a lot, so they get off the line slow.

Check your ignition timing too. Sluggish at low RPMs could be a number of things. Bad timing, clogged fuel system, bad o2 sensors... essentially anything involving ignition and air/fuel systems can combine for poor low RPM performance. Also, might want to check your knock sensor as that can really cause hesitation from 2-3k rpm.

It is an automatic. I have checked the timing and it is set at 15* BTDC as it should be. I am going to add some octane boost to see if that helps the gas quality. Without it not pulling any codes I would hate to just start changing sensors.

any other idling issues? like sputtering or a knocking, or pinging or ticking?

could just be dizzy timing! what has been done to it recently?

have you resetted the computer?

The timing is set correctly. I just drove it 200 miles, all highway, and it used a full tank of gas. I really need to get this fixed but don't know what it is.

this may sound dumb but r u running premium gas? U could also have a piston or rod about to snap. I remember mine ran liek a champ until she was about to blow. I noticed when i started loosing to my brothers camero that something was wrong. But eventually it blew a piston or rod, i forget which. And yes it was an auto as well. I say check the oil to see if u got metal flakes, or heck try and oil change while ur at it; i noticed the difference with my auto.
