Default b16 timing need help

had some aftermarket cam gears on my b16 didnt know what they were but when i started the car up it backfired alot thinking it might be because of timing. i put ls cam gears on and timing set now it just turns over and over and wont crank off starter fluid.
this because the timing is wrong? and anyone know why it was backfiring so bad?

First of all, did you install the cam gears correctly? Is the timing belt lined up right? Was everything at top dead center (TDC) when you reinstalled everything?
It very much sounds like your timing is off.

Ya ls cam gears are in ok. am guessing i will redo timing and see what happens but does it just sound like from what i said it was doing its the timing. the not wanting to start.

and when i had old cam gears on dont know what they were when i started it up with them it backfired alot i am thinkgin its was the timing am i right?
