Ok well a few weeks ago i found out my axel was going bad. I had shaking of steering wheel, clunking sound at lower speeds, and with the car lifted and the wheels spinning the axel looked bent as it rotated and stuff.

So yersterday after work it started making noises at low speeds. First it was a whirl fluttering sound, sounded like throw out bearing. it only did it really when i pushed the clutch in. But it also had the clunking sound slightly.
Then today i drive the car and the noise is alot louder and it was now when i pushed the clutch in and when i let off the gas or gave it about 10% throttle. I got on the interstate and it was so loud it sounded like a machine gun it was like a clunk, popping sound. It was so loud it was over my stereo and hurt my ears.
When the car is stoped there is no noise, or if im driving like 5-10mph you can hear itt but its not to loud. but the faster you go the louder it gets. At about 45-40 it gets very loud

I am wondering if this is my axel if it has takin a **** or what? Also today I noticed my CEL came on too, I have never had a CEL in this car...I am not sure if it is a seperate issue or what

Any ideas?

sounds like what happened to me and everyone i talked to said it was my cv joints. (it actually turned out that my problem was my lugs werent tight lol) it might be yur axles tho just have somewhere like lesschwab check it out for free. cv joints r pretty easy to swap tho.

 

well i know its not my lug nuts.
i guess it could be cv joints, or axels. I will get them checked out, and if its them i will just replace them myself.

 

Any other thoughts... man figured someone would know...?

 

You mention clutch pedal. On my old 92 teg the springs in the clutch disk started to come out and at first it made a whirring/squeak type of noise and then when it did come out, it rattled around. Then it got jammed and shifting was impossible.

 

yeah see shifting is fine and everything. shifts perfect.
I am 90% sure its the axels

When driving 5-10mph its a deep thump every rotation like 10 seconds. like thump............thump..............thump......... .....thump

then at 40 its like
thump..thump..thump..thump

then on the highway it is
thumpthumpthumpthump like a machine gun.

 

dude, what the crap, you're driving the car around even at highway speeds when you already know that one of your axle shafts is BENT?!?!

get those axles swapped out ASAP and then see if there are any noises. And until then try not to drive it at all.

It started as I was driving home from work (I commute 70miles) about 10-20 miles into the drive home is when it started to make the noise to the point of where it is now. As soon as i got home i have parked the car and have not driven it since

and i am planning to swap the axles out as soon as i get time worked just laid a ton of people off so now i got to get up at 345 am for work and prolly wont be home till 5-6pm
