Noob on boost here but i have a question. Just curious which one is better and less of a hassel and cheaper in price? Looks like the internal is winning in my decision because obviously it comes with the wg and no need for a dump tube. Just curious how people did their intercooler piping for these internal wg turbos because the hot side i believe is right next to where the manifold is suppose to go. Also i think i would need to get a downpipe flange for the internal wastegate turbos?

 

you would need a downpipe flange regardless...
how else would you connect the downpipe?

Also, intercooler piping comes out of the smaller hole on the turbo, usually around 2" and then around the drivers side to the intercooler, then around the passenger side and up to the throttle body... Intercooler piping is going to stay the same no matter what you go with.. whether it be internal or external.

Internal wastegates are almost always cheaper because you dont have to buy the wastegate separately. An external wastegate and dumptube combo can cost like 300 dollars or more.

You shouldnt have a manifold yetbecause if you do, then you wouldnt really be able ot choose between external or internal unless you plan to do some sort of modification to the manifold first.


I think you need to do a lot of researching and planning... I think theres a lot for you to learn about a turbo setup

 

I have always preferred internal wg setups over external, its alot cleaner setup, less **** under the hood, and no extra exhaust plumbing. The only drawback is that some people experience creep over 18 or 20 psi, but atp now sells an upgraded housing that eliminates the creep and integrates a 3" vband connection. I've had both internal and external with open dump. Open dump makes your car sound like a piece of ****. I'm looking forward to the day I can find a welder to reroute it back into the exhaust.
