Default Quick fuel question.

Hi guys, personally I have a 6th gen accord which takes regular fuel but my brother wanted me to ask a question about his '02 rsx type-s. It is supposed to take premium fuel(which is only offered in 91 octane here) and he was wondering if he can put a lower grade fuel, maybe 87 or89 octane. Thanks in advance.

Tell him NO and kick him in the *****.

1) Tell him to open the fuel door and read exactly what it says
2) Tell him to open up the manual and read what kind of gas it takes
3) Higher compression motors require higher octane fuel
4) Cars with VTEC should (IMO) use higher octane fuel
5) say no to drugs!

Thank you come again.

The stock ECU will keep pulling timing out so it doesn't detonate, you can 'get away with it', but it's not going to feel the same.

Put some of that oxygenated 87 octane race fuel in it and see what happens.

Because regular or mid-grade gas is a lot cheaper than premium

Ok well I've told him what I gathered from your responses, that it can be done if he ever runs into an emergency situation and has no other choice but for daily driving and frequent use its no good for the motor. He will stick to fillin up with premium as suggested by the above posters

Thanks for all the responses guys, and no I was not able to kick him in the nuts haha. +1 to you rsx forum ppl from an accord guy.

the type-s is has a great 4cyl motor and it feeds on high octane
it doesn't even use that much gas to begin with
if he's concern with 20 bucks a month
he should of bought a base instead (no disrespect, just stating the obvious)
