Default Alpine 9853 problem

I have the 9853 and for a year my ipod connection worked great. I pulled the deck and setup out of the car for 2 weeks, put it back in and now my ipod connection still connects... but to hear anything you have to go full volume on the deck and its VERY faint and a lot of static is present. I can still browse my ipod via the deck and select things, the sound just isnt there. Tried 4 different ipods. Now I tried resetting the deck and I thought when pressing reset it would reset to factory settings but I guess that isnt the case. Any other way to reset this deck back to FACTORY settings?

Resetting or disconnecting power will reset to factory setting, HU should "initialize", [CD transport will cycle to ejected position], although if it switches to iPod and you can control the iPod no resetting is required
I would check the connections, make sure everything is plugged in properly and there are no bent pins. 94

Not sure about that deck in particular but many decks have a volume adjustment for fm radio, aux inputs, and presumably the ipod input.

I don't know if you have access to another cable but it'd be nice to try that.
