Auto Door locking/unlocking
Anyone set their auto door locking/unlocking? I tried to set both, but only the unlocking works, the auto locking doesn't seem to work... Is it because you can't set both of them on at the same time? or am I the only one who can't set them both... lol... someone help.

ya I set my auto unlocking so that both doors automatically unlock when I turn off the engine. Isn't locking pretty much the same. You're looking in the manual right. It should work.
Well I did what it said in there, but it says it's supposed to lock whenver I shift out of park, and it doesn't on mine.... It also says it should unlock whenever I shift to park, and mine doesn't do that either... lol gonna try again in the morning.
watch out for that auto lock too.. i had some crazy **** happen to me in the parking lot yesterday. I unlocked my doors but then my cell rang so i answered it... about 5sec later the doors relocked. so i unlocked them and they relocked again... so i unlocked them a third time and opened the door... they didnt lock again.. i think if you unlock them but dont open the door they relock themselves. crazy stuff.

It locked itself within 5 seconds?
According to the manual, if you unlock it and don't open the doors within 30 seconds, the doors will lock, again.

Same microchip that tells immobilizer that the correct key is in the ignition lets it know that the key is in the car. I have an 06 Si, and if I unlock the doors and don't open them within about 15 seconds they lock. Now if I unlock doors, open them and place the keys in the passenger compartment of my car and close the doors again they will not lock. Try it out, and if you do not believe me try it with your windows down.

Once you open the door, it'll stay unlock...keys in car or not. And I doubt the car is smart enough to know that the keys are in the car, besides in the iginition.

If you unlock the door and put the keys on the seat it will not lock again cause you opened the door. If you unlock the door and don't open it, it will lock again after a while. Our cars aren't like those high end luxury cars where you don't even have to press a button. You know you can just have the keys in your pocket and when you come near the car itll sense the keys and unlock.

BS! Ive been inside many new Hondas (all models) while programming keys. I have the doors shut and i click lock...they lock. But your saying that if the key is inside the car it wont lock? So how can 2 opposite things be true at the same time??
They arent re-locking because you have opened the door and interupted the timer that relocks em.

I said that they will not automatically lock. If you hit the lock button on the key fob they will lock inside or out. What I am saying is if you unlock doors with remote and place keys in driver seat and close the doors the doors will not auto lock. Now if you unlock the doors and have not opened a door within the alotted time they will re-lock themselves.

I know what your saying, but it has NOTHING to do with your keys being in the car... go ahead and unlock ur doors..open one and close em (with keys as far way as car as possible... they wont relock. The computer of the car apparently has some sort of timer that if a door is not opened after x amount of seconds of unlocking it will relock.

Ok... let me say this again. Your car is in the driveway... you are standing at the front door to your house. You unlock the doors to your car, and realize that you forgot something inside of the house. So you go back in for a couple of minutes, do what you had to do and go back to the car but the doors are locked right? Thats because there is a timer built in that locks the doors if you have not locked them witin a certain amount of time right? We agree on that one right???
Same scenario but this time while you are walking to your car you realize that you forgot something inside. But this time you walk to the car, open the driver door and toss the keys in the driver seat and then you close the door go in the house and do what you needed to do. You come back outside a couple of minutes later and voila!?!?, the doors are still unlocked.
Do you understand what I am saying now?

Ok do EXACTLY what you just said minus throwing the keys in the driver seat... take the keys with you back into the house... the door will STILL be unlocked WITHOUT the keys in the driver seat. do you understand what i am saying now?
It has NOTHING to do with you putting the keys in the seat... it however has EVERYTHING to do with you OPENING the DOOR!!!

You don't get it...it has NOTHING to do with the keys in the car or not. Once you press the unlock button and open the door, IT WILL NOT LOCK ITSELF REGARDLESS IF THE KEY IS IN THE CAR OR NOT!!!
And like I said, the car is not smart enough or have the ability to know that the keys are in the car, besides it being in the ignition.

Man, I wish my car was smart like that really, then I can talk to her when I'm riding all by myself. So far when I talk to my car, mostly it replies "Radio... Off..." .... lol
