Default Building A B18C1...help

Alright, this is probally a very repetitive question for the Integra Forum regulars, so I apologize in advance if it upsets you.

I have a 2000 GS-R... and I finally have the money, time, and resorces to basically build it however I want.

Well, recently my engine has started losing crazy amounts of oil... so since i am going to rebuild my head, I want to know what you need to build internals, where you would start... Pistons, camshafts,TB's...etc.

I hoping some Integra owners out there would be kind enough to share their setups with me.

I don't want my car to be a drag car...but i would like it to be ready for a boost setup, if decide to ever go in that direction.

I'm guessing that without a turbo and a good tune...I'm just going to be wasting my time, right?

building for turbo won't see alot of gains until boosted. sleeving your motor for future boost is alot of money for something that not gonna be used for awhile. set out a good plan, and then follow that route. whats your budget? what hp u looking for? etc etc etc . if i was building for a future turbo setup, first thing i do is sleeve, if u want to go 2.0l which i would 84mm cp 9:1. as for crank and such there a couple of ways. do alil more research then ask if your plan is good. talk to engine builders in your area see what they offer and then search for pricing. they give out great info and its up to u to decide. good luck on your build

hey, thanks for the help... well my best friends dad rebuilds honda engines for a living, so all the work is basically being done for free...he is just not into the suping up game anymore, he knows his way inside and out a B-series, and can do anything, but obviously not I, nor he knows really too much to go about the best way of suping one up.

Money? really doesnt matter as long as its worth it I guess.
Net HP when I'm finished? well, I don't want to spin my tires, and i think i would like to take it easy on my FWD, so maybe any where between 250-350 hp... whatever setup works best obviously. I'm looking for acceleration and qt mile times over horsepower....

...I'm looking for somthing that will make me faster on the straights then what its out now, but not sacrifice any cornering, if possible. i would love to make a fast daily driver, that's also great for auto crossing I guess.

hope that helps

If anyone would like to educate me, please do. I know only how a turbo works, i have no idea how to make it work, safely at least

Just my .02 but i would go with slightly higher compression pistons even if you plan on turboing it in the future... like 10:1ish. you will still make good power while N/A and even with the turbo if you are only looking for 250-350hp 10:1 is still ok. there are plenty on guys running stock gsr motors (10:1 or 10.6:1 depending on whether USDM or JDM) and making upwards of 300whp. You will still have great off boost throttle response and pull/acceleration with slightly higher compression. tuning will be much more critical with higher compression, but i assume you will get it tuned when you turbo it anyway. anyway... just my thoughts. good luck with whatever you do. btw... most cars with built N/A motors find traction to be a bitch sometimes... with any turbo setup, unless you run r-compound tires or slicks you will have traction issues.

Although your car is not a DA or second gen integra, this guide is just about the most complete and in depth guide i have ever read. great for anyone planning on turboing any car.

I am boosted now on a stock block but I want more power so I'll be building a GSR block shortly. I plan on keeping it simple with a .5 mm overbore, CP or Wiseco 9.0:1 pistons, Eagle rods, and OEM bearings. Should be good for 400 whp.

I wouldn't bother with headwork until after the engine is built and boosted.

i completly built my b18c (turbo, internals, intake and turbo manis., ect.) and to tell you the truth i wish i would have perchaced a completly built block from a reputable name like for example Golden Eagle, the block is ment to handle massive amounts of power and boost and not to mention comes with a warrenty. however the only down side is comming up with the cash all at once to buy one they are very expensive but looking back on all the money iv spent to build my setup i could have bought a nice block from them for less and if your looking to make big power then it really pays to do it right the first time and not have to replace parts to handle the power you want for example i first built me a custom piece together kit and did not put in big injector, then a year later i wanted way more power and had to replace them so my opinion is build it to make big power

Cams and camshafts are the same thing. get forged rods. crower and eagle makes great rods for hondas. for pistons, i would recommend JE, SRP, Weisco or CP. They are all reputable companies and if you plan on going turbo later in the game it cant hurt to get forged pistons now. To give you some ideas, here is a link to JE and SRPs website with a GSR piston application chart. http://www.jepistons.com/cat/j...shtml

Go with the ones labled "t" in the footnotes b/c they are designed for you purposes. If you notice they have C/R's ranging from 9.0:1 to 10.0:1 for turbo motors. Pick one that is 81 mm (stock bore) or one with an over bore if you plan on resleeving (which i would recomend doing anyway). The wider the bore, the more torque and potential for power. If you want incredible power off boost resleeve the block to 84 mm which will give a 2.0l block like "myfirstdc2" said. If you do that with slightly higher compression pistons (10:1) you will have a powerful motor even before you go turbo. As far as cams, stock GSR cams are supposedly great for boost applications. Go in the FI forum and READ!!!! theres a ton of info on what to do during a turbo build. Your head will be fine with boost. No need to do any mods to support boost. Later on it couldnt hurt to have some work done to promote better flow, thus more power. But if your goal is only 250-350 hp that wont be at all necessary to achieve your goal. Either way, do what these guys said, lay down the cash on safeguarding your investment now or you will regret it. As far as turbo kits, there are many companies (GReddy, Drag, Edelbrock, etc) that make low priced turbo kits for the average joe. I recommend Full-Race. They have very well engineered turbo kits that make consistently good dyno numbers. You can piece your own together but it doesnt seem like you have much experience in that area so go with a kit. here is there DC2 kit page. Good luck.
