2000 civic si build
im looking to start building my civic and i was wondering what are some of your setups to give me a better idea of cost and what all i am going to have to do to my car. i want to build my car head to toe i want it to be done right with no short cuts. what turbo would you recommend? engine management etc...basically everything you can do to the car. money isnt an issue because i know its going to take awhile for it to be done right. My hp goal is around 600 whp. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

600whp, you're looking at about $6000 for your turbo set up and tune, not counting building the block, having it sleeved, etc.
I've spent over $7800 on my car, and its still NA, so you're looking at a crap load of money.

not to mention u have a b16 weakest dohc vtec out there i would start by taking the head off that motor go find a ls motor build a ls vtec for boost and start like that. put some cams, valves, springs, retainers, eagle h beams, some kind of pistions, block gaurd and alot of boost

Re: 2000 civic si build (2000siturboR)
i talked to a local performance shop and they said its almost not worth doing an ls vtec swap cause i was about to do one not to long ago they told me to just build the b16. Now im not saying i dont want to do it cause i still do because it will give me more power but the person said that it would be more of a hassle. how much would it cost to do an ls vtec swap?

I hope you're more patien than I am, I had $30,000 worth of planned mods, that I dropped to $15,000 because I was too impatient. After my new coilovers I'm getting a JRSC with meth and then I'm done.
You will seriously not be driving that car for a year or two if youre doing things one part at a time.

and $$$$
to the OP: good luck with your build. a word to the wise- don't cut corners. if you're going to start spending money, always spend a little more and do it the right way (when in doubt). and make sure to keep us updated

Re: 2000 civic si build (hrs-kong)
If time is what you want get a Cheap LS obd2 Block and send it out to machine shop and put everything together and keep your B16 as a reliable daily motor... get a B16 head build that and put it all together when its complete..

Re: 2000 civic si build (red si 99)
i would try putting together a good turbo set up for the stock engine first. Try that out see how you like it then decide to go for big horsepower. Take baby steps and learn along the way and i think you will be much happier with the outcome of the car.

Thats smart n thats wat im doin!
Your best bet is to either find a OBD2 ls block n buy a Vtec girdle for it or try to find a gsr block! The only reason y the performance shop told you not to do a lsvtec swap was cuz they blow up due to people using stock main cap bolts, with a Vtec girdle you will have more support under high rpm n boost especially with the use of ARP Main/rod cap bolts

Re: 2000 civic si build (hotrod99)
i know they are weak i was referring to the person that said i should get a turbo kit for my stock engine and then see how i like it then start building for big hp. if i were to go to 600 right away i'd get a 60 trim turbo.

Re: 2000 civic si build (hotrod99)
greddy kits suck that what i have. im pushing 14 pounds out of the dsm 18g and only making 220 whp. i also need bigger injectors tho to but the turbo sucks manifold sucks every thing sucks for it if u want more power. its good if u dont mind the 220 whp from it and dont want to do anything more but if u want to upgrade after u buy ithe kit your better off getting better **** from the start.

Re: 2000 civic si build (2000siturboR)
ok well heres what im looking at.
http://www.treadstoneperforman...o+Kit
i can get a intercooler cappable of handling 660 hp
a 60 trim turbo (turbonetics 60-1 turbo)
everything but fuel components and bov for $2000
i would get a hks ssqv bov
750 cc injectors
255 LPH-HP walbro fuel pump
aem fuel rail
(9.0:1 Compression) JE Pistons or should i go (8.0:1)??
Eagle H-Beam Connecting Rods
b16 block guard
Greddy Profec B Spec II boost controller or should i just go with a manual boost controller?
Hondata S300
and a stage 4 clutch or 6 puck clutch
this would set me back about 5 g's before install.
would this be a good setup and would i have to worry about alot if im only running like 10-14 lbs of boost?
any thoughts? thanks

Re: 2000 civic si build (00bluecivicsi)
I saw a guy in Modified mag that had 624whp on his Bosted civic hatch with a b16a2 swap and he had everything listed that he did to the car. If I were you I would look for that issue.

I would personally look into the Peakboost or AFI kits they a very well put together and include everything you need minus the injectors, fuel pump and ems.

Why do you guys think you have to use a greddy kit because your using a stock engine. Thats retarded. Buy a quality kit now, use it on the stock motor. Then worry about big power. Do you think that the guys making the big numbers are on the first setup they put together? And if you only wanna run 10-14 lbs of boost you dont need a built motor and you will never see 600 whp.
