do subwoofers go bad with age?
here's a stupid question. i have some really really old school solobarics, i got these litterally 8yrs ago?
havent used them in over 2yrs, they have been properly stored indoors, so nothing is rotting or any sort of environmental damage.
however, i was wondering do they still get old over the years, or will they perform the same?

I have a set of JL's that I bought in '98, that I play hard almost every day.. They still sound as good as the day I bought them...
I guess it's in how you've powered them over the years and how they're taken care of... Being fed by poor quality signal and pounded hard doesn't help their life span....

94As long as they have been stored properly "they have been properly stored indoors" they should work as well as the day you stopped using them.

Inexpenstive woofers tend to get a bit "sloppy" after some time, but if they sounded good after 6 years of use, there shouldn't be any problems. Just go easy on them at first
ah cool, i figured they would be fine
but then i remember that first day i picked up my beater, my gf "cranked up" the stock stereo, which was like 15yrs old, and completely blew out all 4speakers instantly. i had shreds of the foam ring all over my trunk, hehe.
thus i was a bit paranoid.
