Default Another car overheating problem!!!

Some of you probably read my other threads before. My car still overheats but it doesnt go to red. All of my coolant goes into the reservoir (passed max). My head gasket seems to be ok (no smoke, my oil also looks fine. My thermo seems to be ok also (both hoses are hot).

It raises when at stop, but goes down when im driving. Also notice that the ac fan doesnt turn on (even when i turn the ac on), but my radiator fan does. And the ac fan works, it just doenst turn on. Could that be the problem, or could it be a clogged radiator?

And one more thing, i notice when i warm up the car, it warms up faster then what it should.

Help meeeeeeee!!!

I would start with that fan motor that is dead. if not sure, turn your a/c on and hit the fan motor a few times and it should come on but very weak. good luck.

K things u can do...

See if the fan actually works..... By jumping them. So get some wires and connect them to the battery. See if you're low on coolant. Not just in the resevoir, but inside the radiator. Is the radiator brown??? or dirty? I suggest do a flush anyways.

When did you replace your thermostat? Since you said it warms up faster, it could be a closed thermostat. Get one from Honda dealer. I got some from those auto parts store and they never seem to fit perfectly.

Thats should be it. Reply if you need more.

Ok, i bled my coolant. I also replaced my bottom hose (top one already replaced). So far it seems to be running better. But it still heats up faster then normal. And after a long drive, the temp i barely reach around 3/4 but not that bad, but when i rev or drive the car, it goes back down. Im guessing clogged radiator but im not sure. Cause i know my bottom hose was clogged really bad

i think its your thermostat you should check it by putting it in a pot with hot water and see if it opens up. Also check your water pump it could also be that.

The thermostat is still good. I was thinkin about checking that out. But i was also thinking that my radiator could be clogged. I read somewhere that if coolant spits out of the radiator, then thats a sign of a blown hg, but also I heard that its normal when the thermostat opens when you leave the cap off, that happens.
Also im not loosing any coolant. All of my coolant is going into the reservoir, waaaaaay pass the max line. I also notice that i see lots of debrie in my coolant BUT its still green.

i think its your radiator. if you have the cash spend it. if that's not the problem i am sure it will help. who knows if your rad is 17 years old or not.

plus it's better than a blown motor or HG..
good luck and keep us posted

Check all the things discussed. THEN- cooling problems "at idle" indicate the lobes in the WATERPUMP may be very worn. The pump is pruducing enough velocity when the engine RPM's are higher, but not when the engine is running slower.

Question- when were the timing/balance shaft belts last changed? Often, techs recommend changing the waterpump at this time (the cover is off/very easy to do). But some techs do not speak up, and some cheap owners elect not to spend the money for the waterpump kit with the gasket. The labor to do the pump at the belt-change is all of about 15 minutes!

If the hoses/radiator/fans/temp-gauge (run tests with a manual, easy to do), all check out, consider the waterpump itself. The usual change for most models of the timing/balance belts is at about 90K miles, and SMART techs/owners will change the waterpump at the same time. If it was never done you may be running a very old pump. It may be running low velocity without making any noise. Wrenchy

On two occasions I bought a 'store brand' thermostat, and when I remove the Honda thermostat from my Accord and compare the build quality, its like comparing a twig to a tree trunk in quality looking build. I always go back and but the Honda thermostat with isnt very expensive.
