Default car wont go into gear

i have a 94 ls w/b20 block...my car wont go into gear at all...i can turn it on but it wont engage..but when its off it goes in gear
with the car on with the clutch down and in gear it moves like it wants to take off!!!

has anyone encountered this before?

You might want to check your master cylinder, sounds like the slave cylinder went out. Happened to me a long time ago, and I think that the seal inside the master cylinder had a tear in it? not too sure, but you might want to start there

Its a sign of a clutch going bad,...

Same exact symptoms as mine. Oh and my clutch just got toasted today Good thing I have a backup ACT clutch I will be able to install tommorow

Sounds like the problem I had with my teg when I bought it. A spring broke off of the clutch.

Check your master and slave clutch cylinders first. If they are both good it could be a spring that came out of your clutch or I had a pressure plate bolt come loose and get wedged so I couldnt get it to go into gear.

Either the slave cylinder then or clutch itself.

There was no misinformation. The master and slave cylinders are easy to diagnose. Don't rule out a faulty clutch, as I have seen failures that meet the OPs symptoms.
