CEL flashes 10 times
Hey guys,
My CEL flashes 10 times, evey other time I start the car. It's not a code I can check, it's not anything noticably wrong. But like clock work, every other time my car is started Check Engine flashes 10 times exactly. It always goes off and stays off after that. Any ideas, Im not really worried about it, just more currious.

Get the OBD1 Reader, don't know the exact name right now, but yeah. You just plug it in and it reads the codes for you, and you can reset all CEL's on it too.

i think your thinking of obd2

You'll need to do sum searching but I know with the majority of OBD1 cars you can bridge 2 connections on the OBD1 "connector" making it flash on start up. each long flash equals 10 while a short flash equals 1. from there just add it up an search the code number.
for my 98 gsr, it was a regular maintenance light check that goes off at certain intervals. But mines is obd2, so i'm not sure if it's a maintenance light you can actually reset. But if there is on a 96, it would be under the kick panel on your right hand driver side where there is a hidden switch located opposite of your fuse box location. Just reach under and turn key to ignition on, hit the switch until your light goes on. There was a topic on this somewhere on the forum, just search maintenance light? if you want to read up more on it. Hope this helps, good luck
