1995 Civic Sedan LX ECU help for HX/VX swap/auto trans
I got a 1995 Civic LX with an automatic trans. The motor has some problems, but for commuing purposes, I want to keep the auto trans. My goal is to make this a super efficient car. Would it be possible to swap in a 92-95 VX engine, or 96+ HX engine with the auto? If so what ECU do I use? If I do the VX VTEC-E engine, what would happen if I used that ECU? The auto trans is hydrauliclly controlled, right? Thanks! ! ! !
The HX is OBD2 so you will want to go with the VX. Problem is that the 92-95 Civic auto trans are partially electronic (OBD2s are fully electronic). Being that the VX was never available with an auto tranny, you're not going to find a VX auto tranny ECU. So what you'd have to do is take like a P28 auto and get it reflashed for the VX. Head on over to pgmpfi and do some reading.
Thanks for the reponse, but I had that site in my favorites, and tried it but it keeps saying the page cannot be displayed. Has the site moved or changed? I can't find http://www.pgmfi.org anymore.
