compression test results 1990 integra gs, whats up?
okay so here is the story, bought the car for 300 bux runs and drives good, only problem is it smokes a little right when im taking off and at higher rpms between shifts, it constantly smells like oil tho, at lights and when stopping and things like that... so i decided to crack out the compression tester and do a compression test, when pulling out the plugs, number 1 cylinder was dry and the plug looked okay, a bit of corrosion on the tips, nothing major
number 2 cylinder was a bit DAMP with oil not bad but whatever a bit of corrosion on the tip again.
number 3 cylinder was full of oil, all over the plug and in the cylinder as well i can look down and see oil sitting there, plug looks okay
number 4 cylinder, same as number 1 looks really good
compression test results... 170 205 211 190
how are these numbers for a what is supposed to be bone stock ls? b18a... is there b16 pistons in this thing or something, dont those numbers seem a little high? those are some numbers i get with my b16 :S im confused
also can anyone tell me this oil problem too, thanks guys!

those numbers seem okay they arent the best but they are still ok for that old of a car. the rings are probably pretty worn and the motor is probably dying for a rebuild.

thats what i was thinking, what are stock ls's supposed to put out for numbers though? could this thing have b16 pistons in it?

the only way to tell that is to pull off your head. All cars put out different numbers as long as they are within a 10-15% margin. If #2 and #3 didn't have oil in them they would probably be just as low as 1 and 4 or vise versa. If you put a couple drops of oil in 1 and 4 before the test they would probably have the same numbers as 2 and 3. The oil helps seal better when your piston rings are bad.
