does your air conditioning suck?
well i live in the palm springs area and its seriously about 114 outside right now and its going to be getting hotter in the next month. well i drive a 2002 RSX Type-S and it seems like the air conditioning is real crappy the air it blows doessent really feel cool at all and my bro also drives a 2002 ep3 and his A/C sucks as well. I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem or is it just my car? any suggestions?
My A/C is cold as hell! Sorry dude. Pressing the recirculate button helps, but I'm sure you did that, so try recharging the system. They do that service at the dealer at 30K miles.
Try a recharge. I have noticed that at high freeway speeds my compressor is shutting off. My guess is the clutch asssembly is starting to go. Can't wait to change that out!

Not full throttle though. 75-80 I figure 3/4 throttle. That's why I'm thinking compressor clutch.

oh what sister?...what happen in iowa need to stay in iowa
have the shop take a look at it, there's probably something wrong. don't just jam a bottle in and recharge it, a good working ac system doesn't use up r134, it could be a leak, a non engaging clutch, non working compressor, etc.
if you have a leak, recharging it will last you a week and all the juice will leak out.

No AC system is perfect and a recharge never hurts, the system could be a ounce low and that is enough to affect the cooling. Honda compressors are notorious for leaking because of their segmented design. A recharge will also net you some fresh compressor oil in the system. Always a good thing. Fresh oil=longer compressor life.
well im not sure if i should just take it to some shop to get it looked at or if i should take it to acura. what do you guys think you think acura will rape me for my money?
But if you add good freon to bad freon.. not good and if freon is bad the oil will be bad. But these are newish cars so chances of bad freon in it is pretty slim.

If it's under warrenty take it to dealership. Use the **** out of that warrenty to the fullest.

Vacuum the system, check for leaks, new freon and with it comes new oil. Ideally that is how it should go down. Doesn't take very long. It isn't an issue of bad freon, but low freon.
And like Risk said, use the **** out of your warranty, because it sucks when its gone.

never said it was an issue of bad freon but was just stating that if you add new freon to bad freon that's not good. Believe me i know what you're talking bout i'm a certified HVAC/R tech and did that for 4 boring *** years of my life.
Understood.
4 years of cleaning coils and finding leaks I bet.
I have to dable in that **** at my work.

LOL don't remind me of the cleaning coils and the pain in the *** of finding leaks but i also did a lot of commercial and industrial stuff. I was in the military and that was my job. Boy did i hate every minute of it every last 4 yrs of it.
Now i'm a certified computer geek, that's what i originally wanted to go in as but didn't happen. Got a test for CCNA (cisco certified networks associates) for network engineering Monday. I'm just fortunate that i have things to fall back on just incase.

We have two big chillers in one of our buildings, I don't get near those things. If I can't reset them I call carrier.
Computer geek will get you farther these days anyway.
Got off topic, sorry guys. OP go get your AC checked.

oh my lord not commenting on chillers. One thing i did hate to do was the rooftop A/C units... were not fun in cold freakin weather..
but yeah back on topic, under warrenty use that to the max.
