Default EX GAUGE CLUSTER Q's. please help. need answers ***********************

alright. i bought a used 97' LX auto guage cluster for my 96' CX hatchback. i just have some things to verify and some questions to ask.
1. people told me it would be plug and play. could some1 verify that for me b/c i just see wires sticking out, not plugs.
2. how would i swap my odemeter from my old cluster to my new 1.
3. how would i get rid of the auto lights, some1 said snip them but would i have to use elctrical tape 2 cover up the ends of the wires.
please share any info u have, and if there is any thing else that i missed that would be essentail for the swap please tell me.

i already searched for answers and alls i could find was for the 92-95 cluster swap

1. It is plug and play. Remove the wiring from the auto cluster. Remove the cx cluster by unplugging all of the wires. Then plug all of those wires into the auto cluster.

2. Unscrew the speedo from the auto cluster. Unscrew the speedo from the cx cluster. Then screw your cx speedo into the auto cluster. I think there are 3 or 4 screws holding it in.

3. Just cover up the front of the auto lights with black electrical tape.

1) it should be plug an play as long as the harnesses match up...the wires are attatched to harnesses (the blue, yellow, and green plastic bits) un clip those and clip in the ones from your car...should hook up

2) screwed on the odometer, swaping gauges and messing with the odometer is fraud, regardless of going higher or lower mileage.

3) don't know what to tell ya on the running lights. don't think thats a feature thats specifically in the cluster, i think you need a seperate part for that in your lighting system for that to actually work, so if your car doesn't have them, then i think your gonna be ok anyways...

hope this helps a bit

I think that varies, because in my state you are actually required by law to switch odometers or at least modify them to show actual mileage.

So you'll know exactly how many miles your car has on it. Not an estimate.

You're making it alot more difficult than it actually is.

All you do is remove the bezel around the cluster. There are 2 screws and 2 clips holding it in. Take out the cluster. There are 4 screws holding it in. Unplug everything behing the cluster. Take apart the cluster and remove the speedometer. Do the same for the other cluster. Swap both speedometers. Cover up the auto lights while you're at it. Put everything back together. Plug everything into the new cluster. Screw it back in. Put the bezel back in. You're done.
