sounds like the afvc is messing you up.. either timing or fuel is really off from 5-7k rpms..

what happens without the afvc? and why are you using it in the first place?

its your CPS censor(crankshaft position censor).

thats is causing it to stay in safe mode.
and that is located in your dizzy,so you might have to buy a new distributor.

i dont think that it would really do anything.because that censor it bad, because its causing your motor to stay in safe mode. and its located inside your dizzy.i was saying you might have to buy another b16 distributor.or keep your care on and loosen the bold on the dizzy and turn, and then don't tighten it down, but try to rev it up.keep trying that, but i'm almost it wouldn't really do anything.but anyways, give it a try.

Are you throwing a check engine light?????>

na,it wouldn't be your wires.

what is your fuel pressure regulator set at? the car shouldn't run rich without the afvc... shouldn't need it anyways with a stock b16

if it makes a gargling noise until you floor it, what happens when you floor it?

do you have a CEL?

I understand that the CPS is a possibility, but to suggest it without mention of a CEL is kinda bold.. I'd hate for the poor guy to buy distributor to not fix his problem with
