Different Red Out Idea
Hey Guys,
I have owned my 02 Type S for a couple weeks now and really want to red out the tails. However, I was wondering if I could use transperant red spray instead of using the tradition vinyl. I was thinking about masking off the rest of the tail light and some of the bumper, hatch, and quarter panel and then just spraying the amber section of the tail light. The only reason I ask this is because some local stores carry the spray and not the vinyl, which would have to ordered. Just thought it would save me a week and would be a little different. Thanks

Spray paint is ghetto dude. If yoru not gonna do it right dont do it at all. The rsx is too nice of a car to just take a can of spray paint to. I got an extra set of vynals i never used on my car. I bought two sets incase i would mess up. Well i got it first try, easy as pie and turned out great. Dont have the rsx anymore so let me know if you want em.

when i first got my car i used the candy apple red paint on it. after awhile it looked like straight ****. so i bought the vinyl...taking off the paint was a huge pain in the ***. at first i used goof off or whatever that **** is and it didnt work. then started to use paint thinner and still didnt work. i just ended up scrapping the paint off really slow... only had a few minor scratches...im glad i went with vinyl thoh

Ive never heard of someone using paint being happy with it. Red outs, complete opposite. It was more so my opinion. Cost has nothing to do with it. Go ahead and take a paint can to your car and let us know what you think.

i did use paint on my car, and since i used light *** coats, it comes off easy with some lacquer thinner and elbow grease. a bunch of people have done it and have been happy with it

Nah im not arguing either. We're defending our own personal experiences. Props to you dude because everyone else ive seen with paint it didnt look like yours at all. Any problem with peeling or chipping, like when you wash your car and what not?
no peeling, no chipping, if you keep the coats extremely light and do it all within 20 min. 5-6 coats is enough, most people who do it the first time end up taking too long and putting heavy coats so it clouds up and looks like crap.
