Help looking for a clutch!
Got a 98' Lude, Already have cai/e/h. Ready to get a better clutch set up but wanna hear peoples opinion on what to go for.... so far the only real thing i've heard is stay away from act....
who told you to stay away from act? their clutches are great. anyway. what are your future goals? what do you want to do with the car? those questions are what you ask yourself when looking for a clutch.

I personally haven't used ACT buy lots of friends do. It also seems like theyve had better luck with them than I have had with Clutchmasters and RPS.
I am running a CM3 in my DD Lude and Hatch, Exedy 3 puck in the Race car.
I would like to see this thread keep running to see what people are using.
I think youre going to find alot of people using ACT. Cheap and reliable. If you search around you'll find someone saying something bad about every product out there.
What other options are really out there?
Clutchmasters
ACT
Exedy
OEM Honda clutches do ROCK though......Just saw 145k miles out of one with over 50 AutoX events and some track days making ~175whp with i/h/e.

ya i heard exedy was a pretty good clutch.... but a buddy of mine who has the same year lude as mine, except he has an Sh said he went with act and just had problem after problem..... He's a certified mechanic so i kno he konws his ****. But as far as future plans for the lude, just a engine rebuild to get some more power and a new tranny..... forced induction was a thought but i've read alot of forums saying that with the h22 the boost is just a lil too much for the cylinder walls to handle, that an all motor set up is the best bet.... but im here for opinions on whats best so anyone out there, hit me up and let me know what ya think....
Search or ask around enough and you'll find something bad about every company.
I'd say your friends issue was a remote occurance. Im not trying to be rude/mean, but installer error can easily be blamed on a product.

na i totally understand and appreciatie you putting in your opinion..... i know all too well that a lazy mechanic may very well be the problem with anything....right now im thinking exedy is where im headed but still have time before i make the final decision.....

Just to keep it going I run an exedy stage1, had it in my h23 for oh 30k, then put it on my H22 when I swapped, still holding great! I have run the car at the strip a few times as well and it did fine, granted that was with the H23, but it has no problem gripping enough to kill my tires on the street every time I get in the lude after driving my WRX.
