Garage did a clutch and now no spark?? 90 Accord
I just bought a 90 Accord...and it needed a clutch...i dont have hardly any spare time...so i sent it to a garage to have a stage 3 clutch put in it....went to go pick it up today and it doesnt run...looks to me like it isnt sparking...i looked around and i didnt see anything unplugged.....but i couldnt get under it or anything cuz its about 2" from the ground......just trying to look for the first place to start....any ideas anyone??? Im new the the HONDA's.....so please any ideas would be appreciated
I would suggest taking it back to the shop and asking them why it doesnt start. However, if they just replaced the clutch, maybe they didnt plug the safty neutral switch back in. That is so you cant start the car unless the clutch is pushed in. If they left that unpluged, it wont crank.
it may be your coil that is bad. most likely on those year accords, start with a coil if no spark. and if that doesn't fix your problem, then your igniter may be bad also. start with your coil, when you take it off, there should be a metal cover on the coil, remove it and you should see burnt spots on it. good luck.
check this sucker. when you turn your key to ON, does the check engine light come on, then go off? if it does not come on at all, this guy is your culprit. make sure this ground is clean and connected.
Check Spark.
1) Plugs/Battery
2) Wires
3) Ignition Coil
4) Ignition Switch (Connected to where you turn the key) (Contacts maybe fried Quick 40$ fix)
5) Starter
6) Distributor

so the car is still at the shop? I would make them fix it, the car started before you brought it in right. they most likely didn't conected something right. but if you want to spend your time and money on it go ahead. if there is no spark then check the basics power, coil, distributor, icm, wires, and plugs. although I still think that it shouldn't be your responsiablity to fix it seince the shop broke it.
I was thinking more along the lines of the ground from transmission to frame. That as well as the ground on the t-stat housing can send you through loops if you dont hook them up.
the car ran just fine when i dropped it off.....according to them it just shut down....they said its my fuel pump...but i dont think they are all the cuz i went down myself and it was getting no spark and plenty of fuel....next time i go down i'll check all the grounds.....it turns over just fine so the motor has its grounds and the neutral switch is in working order....but i will get back when i have some news...thanks guys
Fuel pump is easy to check. You put the seat down, turn the car to ignition (dont start it), and youll hear the pump turn on in the trunk. If you dont .. the motors shot. Id check all your fuses .. then your battery. Who knows .. maybe they didnt install the flywheel haha .. (wouldnt supprise me).
