Default B17C engine and question>?

Just looking through local craiglist, this guys parting out his 92 teg GSR. He has a b17c engine re-build with 35K ago. Anyways he was trying to sell the car(for $2800) but because of the ugly color and etc. no one wants to buy it so he's parting it out. Anyways I might look into buying the B17? How much would it be for too much on the engien if I were to buy from him? Or would be a good price? Also I'm looking into the brake parts as well.... I own a 91 CRX HF and a 95 civic coupe (EX)....

Anyways I'm wanting to look at the engine for my CRX will it work? What else would I need for the swap to happen and also would the brake parts swap/fit for my CRX as well to do a conversion? I'm trying to see if I can get it for my CRX hf if not then maybe for the 95 coupe? Let me know TIA

I dunno what a b17c is, it should be a b17a1, the engine is baiscaly an obd-0 b16a with a little more displacement. My freind and I used the crank from one to destroke a b20 vtec and it gave awesome r/s ratio. For $2,800.00 I would snag it up no matter what the color. Possibly do a dash swap into your rex, and the steering wheel is kinda sweet if its in good condition. I would defintely upgrade the brakes and supsension with it. I would use the master cylinder and brake booster since the hf ones might be lacking. Since the GS-R has ABS you'll probably want to by a prop valve from and ls integra of the same year.

BTW what color is it to make it sooo cheap.

itll be just like swapping a b16a into the crx or even the coupe for that matter.

the color is orange!? yeaup...well i've got the money for any kind of swap I want but just looking for a cheaper one that's not so expensive at the time being (who am I kiding just trying to get a deal =P )...I mean I can order a B16 if I wanted kinda cheap for me, but I kind of want something more stonger for future build maybe...Like if I can get this engine for cheap it be better than a b16 wouldn't it? No? Plus with two car which I love them both don't want to throw money all on one and not the other. And yeah $2800 isn't that much but really don't have room for another car...I'm only 21 and already have owned 5 cars (hondas) by myself--now only 2 car, my REX was my recent buy...so yeah don't want to buy another car anymore...

As far as the engien yeah I firgure the specs say B17a1 but I don't know he typed "B17c" so okay? Maybe he was thinking "b18c"? I know nothing much about Tegs so yeah and now I'm starting to get to the engine learning/ tunning of Hondas so don't know too much yet still a noob you can say on that. Though if it's a B17 it should be stamp on there anyways right? as all engine....

So it's OBD-0 and if I remember right my REX is ODB-0 as well right? so it should be a pretty direct fit/swap with no wiring mess? Okay so I can use the brakes and suspension well I'll try to take it if I can...dash ummm not sure if I want to swap it? Should I? Not sure...so how much for a re-build engine you think???Thanks

Damn it OBD1 huh...damn rex! thought I remeber it being obd0 oh well I guess I'll still try to get it if it's cheaper than a b16.... I mean b16 in a rex is nice but GSR is much nicer/sweeter I think....okay so i can use the whole brakes and suspesion from the Teg and mas. cyl and brake boost..... and what's this again

"Since the GS-R has ABS you'll probably want to by a prop valve from and ls integra of the same year"

Thanks....

make sure you get the ECU! since you don't live in CA you really don't need it but you can make a decent profit on it. CA folks need it for the REF here. Look for the unique p61 stamping on the intake manifold, ECU and the obvious b17a1 block stamp.

Hey, if you pass on the GS-R here is a good deal.

http://www.streetimports.com/p...d=949

My freind just droped this package with LSD in his rex and the engine is awesome. Shows up clean like off the factory floor and has everything for the swap. Im gonna use this swap on my next rex project.

Yes the motor is OBD 1 and it's a B17A not "C", the GS-Rs here in the states came out in '92 which was the first year of OBD 1. The motor has 155-160hp (seen different numbers) and the only difference from a B16 is the crank giving it it's 1.7L displacement though it's barily more the B16. The HUGE plus is the tranny, it's cable and it's a little beefier than the 89-91 JDM trannys on all OBD 0 swaps. And if you have the '92 GS-R tranny you will have no problems at all getting parts (and all 92-up B-series tranny internals swap over, Type R final drive for example), the 89-91 JDM trannys have no parts available over here so if you need new gears or synchros it's a nightmare to track down. All you need to bolt that motor into your REX is a set of mounts & shift linkage(I prefer Hasport) but don't use the GS-R linkage and cut it because that just does not feel as good as a manufactured unit that bolts right up. An OBD 1 jumper harness (I prefer Rywire) will also be needed which will plug right up, The B17 will already have a perfect ECU, dizzy and 4 wire o2 sensor which is all needed for OBD 1 swaps. The axles work perfect as does the radiator if you want the bigger Teg one.

Bottom line is, this is the best chassis to source a B-series swap and other upgrades for your Rex. I too built my swap using a '92 GS-R

Wow must be sweet! Anyways I called the guy after work today but didn't pick up? Must be at the Summer Fest? or something....Anways I'll be out of town this weeken but after I get back I'll try again(calling him). I mean if I can get it for less than 2Gs or $1000-$1800 that be sweet vs getting at B16 I guess. But we'll see if it's meant to be, though it would be bad *** if I do

Well can only wait and see if he'll still have it or not but yeah that's what's up now...Though if it gets sold I'll try to go after the brake/suspensions...Oh and that site is not too bad (price wise)...B16 is nice but I kinda want a GSR more and maybe....CTR for the coupe?

Oh and only reason I'm kinda looking for "cheaper swaps" I guess is I'm thinking about taking my REX to an auto shop and do a restore on it so yeah. I mean it's still clean, not like new clean but no rust clean and so that's why I kinda don't want to spend too much on a swap just yet...and even though it's not a super clean REX it still turns head just because it's clean (no rust) which 5 guys already asked if they can buy it from me...though I hope I can get a swap before winter

WELP that's what's happin'...damn! I want it! But thanks "VtecSyndrome" ...crossing my fingers? hope it's still there for me
