Default New to Honda Tech....

New here.
I just bought a 94' Civic LX about a month ago.
It's a horizon gray metallic, 4dr sedan (yeah, I can hear your eyes rolling with that one)....but I need four doors as an art student.
It's also automatic (again..I know), but it was a steal with 73k.

Regardless....my tailpipe was very rusty and somehow it's cracked and lying limp.
I know I can just get a new tailpipe/muffler but if it's that rusty, I'd like to see what options I have for an exhuast system.

Does anyone have any advice for me with that? I live in the Chicago area if that helps. I don't want to spend too much money, but if I can easily add horsepower, I'd like to.

Other than that, what are some cheap easy ways to keep my civic from looking/being so stock?
Please be nice....I'm interested in this stuff....everyone starts somewhere, right?

Since you live in Chicago, try Suja 1. They're located in Carol Stream.

http://www.suja1.com

I'm sure there's lots of other shops up there too.

Dude, it's an automatic sedan. And if you're not interested in spending TOO much, just make it a slick, classy ride. It can be done. Just look at civicseth's transformation with his sedan:

Beautiful. Not suggesting you have to turbo or anything like he did, but civicseth has always had a great example of a clean civic sedan in my book.

It all depends on what you want. If you want a good sounding exhaust with a factory look that frees up a little hp without being to loud and obnoxious there are several options:
RSR Ex-Mag
Tanabe Hyper medallion
Apex-i WS2

Keep it clean, just please don't put on one ebay fart cans!!!! You might save some money now, but you will regret it after you have it put on.

I would second going with an ES Tuning muffler you can pick one up for $80 and get it installed for about $35. As for mods first thing I would do personally would be suspension and rims, this will make a drastic difference in appearence and feel.

Wow, who said the Vibrant was quieter than a ws2?

Definately NOT.

A vibrant CAN be quiet, with a cat and a good long resonator. IMO it's still louder than a ws2.

Thanks!

If I wanted to avoid getting a whole new exhaust, do you know any good muffler and tail pipes out there?

If you just want a muffler, hit up a junkyard. Unless you want something noisy.

Any exhaust won't give you any noticeable gains. I'd just find a stock one.

I just had a stock muffler put on, couldnt take the noise of the fart can anymore(was on the car when we bought it) Paid $60 for them to put a stocker on.

Ive seen some clean sedans out there. Id like to think ours is pretty clean for a DD.

Holy crap, no one has said anything about him being a newbie or bashed him at all. I am amazed, what has HT come to. Something better hopefully.

Enter generic welcome post here:

Hello New User, Welcome to Honda-Tech

There is a wealth of information here on this forum just waiting for you to discover.

Whether you joined to get some help with a problem on your Honda, wanted to see other peoples cars and get ideas for your own, wanted to buy some parts, or maybe you just own a Honda and wanted to join the club, a good place to start is with a good >>>>>SEARCH<<<<<< . You will notice the red SEARCH button on the top right hand side of the screen. You can search to see if someone has had a similiar problem, or has a similiar post to what you wanted to make.

The first screen you come to has a long list of different sections you can choose from, each having there own reason.

The first list you will see are Model Specific TECH forums. These are forums for general TECH related questions and post about SPECIFIC MODELS. A suspension question is not MODEL specific, as all cars have it, so that might be better suited in the Suspension forum. You get the idea. Before you post a question, SEARCH to see if it has been covered before, because it probably has. Here is a good link to show you how to use the search function. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=979961

The next list you will see are more Technical Forums, except this time instead of car/model specific, it is topic specific, IE All motor, FI (forced induction), Suspension, Drag racing, AutoX, etc. Your questions about these matters go in the designated forum.

The next place you will see the Marketplace. Come on, do you need an explaination about this? Buy or sell your parts here.

The next section is labeled Honda-Tech Forums. You will find the Appearance and Cosmetic section. This section is good for when you want to show off your car and get feedback on what you have done. Or if you have questions about something to do with appearance in general, this is your forum. The other sections here are the Events and Meets section, where you can find out what is going on in your area, or announce something of your own. And then there is Kills. Tell stories of who you raced and what happened here. Enter at your own risk.

And then there is GDD- General discussion and debate. This is basically the Off-topic forums of Honda-Tech. You can explore these for yourself.

There you go, I hope that you read this and understand the layout of this website.

Again, Welcome to HT.

You can use it, but you have to put something about stealing it from me at the bottom. Like copy and paste it, and at the bottom, put (used by permission from sol2hatch).

or pay me a dollar everytime you use it. Your choice.

and to the OP: I have a muffler for sale if your interested. Its a stock type R muffler, but without the chrome tip. Selling cheap if you want it. Mind you, its just the muffler, no piping. LMK
