Time for a new timing belt?
My friend had a timing belt done on his gsr and its too tight. Wen the cars cold theres a decent amount of slack but once the engine heats up the belt tightens and starts to make the supercharger sound. he's been driving on it for 4days so far and wants me to loosen and tension it right. Does anyone think that the belt would be over stretched and pointless to loosen and tension it the right way? so the question is new belt or use the 4 day old one and re tension it. THanks

Explain why? The tensioner isn't something that can constantly vary tension on the belt. So why would you automatically replace the tensioner? Waste of time and money. As for the belt, I would put it to TDC, loosen the tension and then rotate three teeth COUNTERclockwise with the tensioner bolt loosened. Tighten the bolt to spec and see what it does. Thats the correct way to set tension. My guess would be someone did this procedure incorrectly to begin with.
