Default CRX RS-R Exhaust/Omni test pipe review

I picked up the RS-R exhaust for the CRX. First impression on opening the box was that everything was packed very well. There was foam wrapped around the muffler, and a special padded/soft fabric bag over the tip. The nuts/bolts/gaskets came in their own bag which was in a piece of cardboard that had been wrapped and taped to hold everything in. It came with a sticker, 3 gaskets, and enough bolts+ 3 extra nuts for us slippery handed people. All 3 exhaust portions had their own bag that were tied at the end, and there were no scratches on anything. The installation and fitment went pretty well, the fitment portion i am still working on as i need to cut a half-circle out of my bumper(aftermarket). The muffler looks like it will fit perfect into the stock indent cut out below the trunk. The one thing that i may need is a very short hanger for the muffler portion hanger on the passenger side. Due to being lowered with an aftermarket swaybar, the pipe touches on larger bumps, but this is also due to the whole system hanging down an extra 2 inches or so.

The omni pipe was a very easy install, defanitly fit its purpose and was worth the money in time saved welding. I did have to cut a bit off of one of the 3 pipes that slide into each other in order to make it the correct length, however this was a 2 minute process. I spread high temp RTV around each tube before inserting in another, and bolted it up. The one thing i would suggest is that the flange made to bolt onto the downpipe is made stronger. It looks like its a stamped piece of metal, unlike normal flanges which are 1/4 inch thick metal. In order to tighten it the bolts ended up bending the corners a bit.

My completed car includes a GSR motor, ram-intake, DC 4-2-1 headers w/2" outlet, 2" Omni test pipe, 2" RS-R exhaust.

This exhaust system could NOT sound any better. I cannot complain 1 bit about paying the extra for this system as apposed to another. Even with the test pipe, its still EXTREMELY quiet; it's VERY surprising. I get compliments on it all the time on how quiet it is, and how it's the first Honda that sounds good. It's a little deep sounding picking up in the low range, at normal operating RPM's (2-3k RPM) its as quiet as stock exhaust. After this range it sounds like a performance exhaust should sound, deep, respectable, and very well toned. I will not buy another exhaust system for any car permitting RS-R makes it. I am very very impressed with this system, it produces the power i need, with remaining quiet and professional sounding even with being straightpipe. I don't think most of you would believe how incredbly quiet this thing is.

I can get pictures and audio if requested; not sure how much interest i would get.

pics and audio please!!!

sounds like pretty neat setup! i got a greddy mx on a b16, jdm itr headers, and a carsound 2.5 high flow cat, sounds wonderful but now that my bro damaged it, i think its time for a new exhaust as i keep blowing the welds on the s pipe! thinkin about the rs-r though! and with a straight pipe being quite! i find that a little hard to believe but surprissing if true!

Congrad on the purchase and the good job putting them together Obviously, the "DC 4-2-1 headers w/2" outlet, 2" Omni test pipe, 2" RS-R exhaust help to quite down the tone/sound as oppose to let say 2.5"-3" set up.

picked it up on ebay; made an offer for $450 shipped; he had it marked $550 i believe, which is retail. I picked up the omnipipe off of some seller on ebay because i got it for retail price shipped. I prefer not to mess with "bargain" sellers; you get what you pay for, just like exhaust.

I just got mine last week. I second the thing you said about the awsome packaging. UPS damn near flattened the box, but since everything is wrapped in plastic cardboard and foam, nothing was damaged.

I did some searching, and a lot of places have the exmag backordered. The other places know of this, and are charging up to like $720 shipped! That's absolutely ridiculous. I ended up getting mine on andysautosport.com for like $550 shipped.

Can't wait to put mine on!

yes, ex mag, from what i understand it's the only exhaust RSR makes for the CRX?

Sorry i've been having some idle issues with the car so i've been trying to get it working right. I stall out on breaking sometimes, the revs drop, but dont jump back up and it dies, then i need to crank it for a few seconds for it to start up again.

pics of hood: i put aerocatch pins on it too

Pictures are here! Like i said, keep in mind its kinda rigged right now cause the guy who had the car before me cut one of the hangers to fit his nasty dual-can setup. I'm also going to be removing the bumper to cut a half-moon so everything fits good and tight

i bet it sounds good. weird tho how the gap between ur bumper and the exhaust is big. and how ur taillights are two 88-89 and the center is a 91 tho.

Whoa I didn't know the RS*R hangs that low . Maybe it's just the angle, but that looks crazy low. I was thinking about getting that exhaust too...

this is, imo, the greatest exhaust of all time. ordered it directly off the rsr site. there was a little glitch, but i caught it after a few hours. the people were very nice about it and sent me a free t-shirt in apology. who can be mad after a free shirt?

hangs low because of my lack of rear-hanger, and because my bumper is low. Im going to cut so it fits snug, all i need are some real tight hangers and it fits in the bump-in on the bottom perfect.

The guy i bought the car from had some "carbon fiber look" tail lights on it... luckily i found these in one of the boxes of stuff he gave me with the car. I didnt realize they were from different years though

I also removed the SIR sticker right after i took these... i got lucky and he didnt JB weld it like everything else
