Default Sell My 04 IS300 for an S2K? Advice.

What do you guys think. I have always been in love with the S2K's and I really want to switch from my current 04 Lexus IS300 Auto to an S2K. I would like to know what you guys would do in this situation. Also wether you guys reccomend the AP1 or AP2, I am not going to track the car maybe once a year for fun, it would be a daily driver, and i'd like to do some common mods i.e. exhaust, wheels, intake, suspension...What do you guys think?
-Thanks

Now only is your opinion biased, but the OP also asked a question in a, what seems to be, biased community.

I don't own either, but it really depends on what you want. Do you like the 4 doors and extra space? Do you drive a lot of people around? Do you enjoy driving your auto moreso than a manual? Too many variables, but IMO, sell it and get an S2K - Reflector HID's FTL.

For a daily driver, no. I would not have the S2k as my only car. If you have another car that you can use for DD or for those times that you have to haul people/stuff, then I'd get the S2k.

ehhh i have to disagree. i have one as my DD and couldnt be happier... expletive people that need me to take them places... i only need room for one and thats my woman...

ok to the OP, I would sell that slug and def buy an S2K in a heartbeat. and by slug i mean the way it handles compared to an S. its just a more fun car to drive and more appealing as well... as far as AP1 or AP2... I would go with the AP2. Its more refined, more driver friendly and thats what it looks like your going for as well as myself. I know 9>8 but Ive driven both and for what I do, the AP2 suites me just fine. heres a link to help you out: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1919565

Well, if it's working for you, then that's good. However, majority of the people that own an S2000 use it as their second or third car, or they live with their parents and readily have access to a bigger car.

Personally, I take road trips, go camping, and buy TV's, appliances, etc. The S2000 would not fit the bill there. I remember I went to pick up some bike stands for my CBR and I could not fit them in the trunk (not even the front stand). I had to use my Tetris skills to fit them in the front passenger seat. Little inconveniences like that would drive me nuts if I didn't have a bigger vehicle.

The OP is 17. He's probably going to be in college soon (maybe?). If so, I'd definately get a beater or just a cheaper car. College parking lots are full of inconsiderate and/or drunk individuals that don't care much about others' cars.

Also, it snows where I live, and although people have put snow tires on the S and have been fine, I'd rather be in my 4Runner.

Just some things to think about.

all valid reasons... and yes college parking lots suck ***... my car looked pristine before I took it to college, and now its full of door dings and dents... ****** drunk ******... anyways, i live in NJ and def know about snow... when the weather comes it will be time to purchase a ridgeline as well, put the S in the garage and let it hibernate until spring comes along...

one of my buddy drives a 01 is300, it's nice and all but it kind of never catch on as far as aftermarket goes. it have a good aftermarket since the motor and alot of part are shared but most of the modded is300 around here and for show, etc.
it just takes so much money to make it go fast, i rode in a turbo'ed is and it's not even that quick off the line. the new is250 just looks so much cleaner and nicer inside, i would get that or a s2k depends on what you do.

you'll get better miles with both the 250(around 23.4ish, since i drove one last week for a trip, not so crazy but still better than 17ish) or s2000

I'd get rid of that re-badged 'yota and get the S. That's just me though. If you're dealing with a lot of traffic, stick with the automatic tranny lex-***. You'll get sick of riding the clutch in 1st gear in stop-and-go. I'd suffer through it to get to the back roads and enjoy the smooth-operator mood that comes with a broken-in S and some nice curvy back roads.... And I'd go with an AP1, just for the 9K redline. Cheaper anyway. Not that you'd be worried about price.

ha, payments on a $6-7k car? suuuure thing buddy

i'm not saying the car is not nice,

but its not a car i would be afraid to take to college....it would be like the perfect car to take to college... its not like some guys going to be like OMGZ d00d check out that MAD TYTE ACCORD!1 and then decide to destroy it.

i mean...its still nice, while not being expensive at all to worry about.

ask yourself what would jesus do. then do the opposite. jesus would ride an is300 so i've heard

s2 is a nice fun car but after awhile it gets kinda tedious, driving as a daily isnt what its meant for. mt runs and track is its purpose. so you have to find the answer yourself.

but then again i <3 my s2k

I agree that the s2k doesnt make a great DD - however for a weekend car it is fantastic.

all the people bi0ching about DD s2k is a *****, seriouly i have an aftermarket clutch, i drive at least 70 miles per day and that's in SOCAL stop and go, if i can make it alright you can too

the downside would be the wear, dust, dings, miles, but hell anything goes if i am happy to meet my daily grinds

No doubt it can be done, i did it for a number of years too - im just saying im happier driving it on the weekends (or in my case pushing it around the junkyard) then i am driving it everyday.

Agreed. You can DD an Ariel Atom if you wanted to, but doesn't mean it makes a good daily driver. I didn't mind commuting in my S2000, but would much rather do it in my SUV most of the time. It's not just the ride quality, but usable space.

During the summers, though, I drove the S2000 about 60% of the time. I would have driven it more, but it just doesn't cut it when you can barely fit 2 golf bags in the trunk.
