Default My first car, (94 accord) suggestions?

I recently bought my first car, a '94 accord. It's in great condition, but with 200,000 miles. I'm kinda looking at one day doing an H22 engine swap. Any comments on that, or suggestions on other things I could do to upgrade my car. I'm also looking at an intake system, suggestions? Thanks.

Depends what you're going for.

Speed - Intake, Exhaust, H22 swap like you were saying, Just very pricey, but with 200k you don't have TOO much time left on it. I mean possibly but it had to be taken care of tremendously, tranny will probably go out before motor. Turbo, Nitrous, Supercharger etc.

Stereo - Always do speakers, amps, subs, caps etc.

Show - Exterior work, Paint, Wheels, Lowering, Lip or Body kit, Etc. Etc.

Suspension - Springs and shocks, Coilovers, Strut Bars, Sway Bars, Urethane Bushings.

For an Intake I would suggest personally the Weapon-R Secret Weapon Intake System. I have one it's great. But any by AEM, Injen, all are great systems.

At your age?

Keep it stock now.

what the hell are you talking about Haccordclub?
1) those motors will EASILY reach 300k with proper maintenence

2) no supercharger exists for the f22b1/2

3) just no lol

tenny, at 16, save up your money, enjoy the car for what it is, if you truly love it or if it's in really good condition then look at doing upgrades of that nature, I personally would suggest you stick with simple stuff:

- intake ($10 ebay + K&N filter)
- tint (if you like it)
- wheels (stuff can get pricy)
- exhaust (if you feel inclined)

as to a header, the Accord EX header is just about as good as a DC Sports, no reason to upgrade.

At 200k I would not look into nitrous or a turbo.

Your first goal should be restoring it and getting it into tip top condition:

- change oil
- change transmission fluid
- regular maintenence
- timing belt/water pump
- etc

Also, remember that saving your money for quality parts is the best route to go, you save yourself a lot of headaches by not skimping out now.

Urethane Bushings = ?</TD></TR></TABLE>

I just recently got done putting Energy's urethane bushings($100) on my 94 accord for my front suspension. I broke a balljoint and replaced the balljoints, tie rod ends, wheel bearing, and hub and needed new bushings. I will tell that some of these bushings are a headache. The balljoint boots don't have a ridge so the snap ring just slides right off and I ended up using pipe clamps that are tightened down to not let the grease out. To get your lower control arm bushings out your gonna need to cut them out. Also, the upper control arm bushings are gonna have to be pressed out using a hydralic press. I can't really tell you if this was worth it because I think my axle is not in the differantial all the way so I have only driven a block on the new bushings and haven't really noticed anything real different.

My suggestion is have a mechanic install them if you don't know what your doing. It took me a almost a week to work out all the kinks. They are cheap compared to the other suspension upgrades but a big hassle. If your car didn't come with service records, I would look into timing belt, water pump, and oil pump replacements, in addition to the maintence already mentioned, to make sure the engine you have now works until you have enough money for a h22.

My h22 swap will be about 2000-2500 and I got a USDM h22.

200k is about half life for the accords. My bro had his accord for almost 300k and still running good. You could always get some rims, lower your car and upgrade your system. Nothing major but it would make your ride look clean. Also u can get a intake, headers, and exhaust. Maybe tint your windows. Oh yea wash your car, clay bar then polish that baby.

This is all good advice. The only thing I disagree with is the header. Yes, the EX stock manifold is quite good, but you can get a little bump in power from a good aftermarket header. If it's worth the price is up to you. I would also add a good set of lowering springs and shocks to the above list. You can't make much more power with bolt-ons, but upgrading the suspension will make a huge difference in the personality of the car. Whatever you do enjoy the car and welcome to Hondas and H-T.

yes clay bar made from Meguiar's. It comes with a kit with clay bar and polish. Test it out and you will see a great difference.

After I typed it I realized that I meant the transmission will end up going. Motors are overly strong because they are cast iron correct, h22's are aluminum. Sorry.

Are you planning to build the vehicle for your driving pleasures...(Daily Driver)?

Or an all out race car? (Autocross) or (Drag)?

Ok so I've spent the last few days reading up on H22 swaps and it's looking like the feat of a lifetime. Is it even possible for someone who doesn't know someone in the business to consider doing it themselves or am I just gonna have to find a good mechanic and try to go through them. 'Cause I'm reading these things and they're talking about grinding things down, getting this wiring for that and that pump for that and everything and I don't even know what it is much less where to get it or how to put it in. And I really don't want my car up on blocks for the next 8 months.

Keep it simple.

I just got an auto 94 LX. I got it for $50. The first things I did were: Fresh fluids, bulbs, spark plugs, vacuum interior, Armor-All, and wash and wax. Next step in maintenence for me is timing belt,VSS, and water pump. I'm also looking for a head unit and speakers because they are all missing.

I'll be starting my own cd5 build thread soon, once I get the ball rolling with this stuff. The car is still proving reliable even though the odometer stopped working I don't know how long ago lol.
