emissions woes
i am fighting to get my car past emissions, took a second test today and failed worse than the first test.
I have to dyno test as I am obd1, first time testing i failed NOx both high and low speed as well as low speed HC.
So I went home, did an oil chance, cleaned egr ports, replaced the ect since it was beat up, put a diff o2 sensor in that did not have tore up wiring and went back. I also have a brand new cat on the car too.
So retest I go in and fail HC both high and low speed, BADLY fail at that.
NOx is only slightly better...
anyone got any bright ideas?

was the car up to temp when you brought it in? A cold converter will cause problems. And also what brand is the cat, some of the cheap high flow cats don't really work all that well.
I had just gotten done driving about 30 miles in the car so the cat should have been hot, i had to wait about 5-10 minutes for the test. The cat is a 2.5 week old Magnaflow cat.
I had thought about some of the stuff to add, but have always been leery of it.
It jus bothers me that I have good power, great economy and its showing that emissions are that bad.

try using one of those garenteed to pass emmision fluids. My buddy goes through beater cars like socks so he needs to get emmision tests all the time and swears by them.
