Default 97's turning 10 years old in July

Somewhat OT but, I can't believe the USDM ITR is turning 10 years old next month. Doesn't seem like its been that long. Who else has a 97' ITR and when was the original purchase date? It would be interesting to see how many are with the original owner, but I'm guessing that Victor is one of the few.

I'm the second owner of #171 and she's at 103,500 miles and counting

Turning the big 1-0 on July 27th

2nd Owner of mine. Has 94,000kms (59,650 miles). Bought it from the original owner unmolested. It even had a baby seat in the back when I went to test drive it.

I have modified it slightly. Mainly Spoon parts. But I have every original part for it.

Was once considering a JDM front, but that would ruin such a Rare ITR. I didn't like the front end at first, but it has grown on me.

I remember at the local autoshow in spring '97 the Acura dealer had a 97 ITR there. I remember sitting in it and rowing through the gears. No one quite knew what the heck it was.

Unfortunately, none were available at that time so I ended up with a 97 GSR that same spring.

3 years later and I traded the GSR on my 00 ITR.

OG '97 owner here too. I remember waiting 10months after I made the initial deposit which I took over for a friend who couldn't wait any longer and got himself into a Prelude SH.

Car still has less than 71k kms... a lot of the low mileage was mostly my fault... I had a scare early on in her life when I was still young and busting *** to make payments by working at a grocery store.

I came out for my break and she was gone...thinking that she might have been towed I didn't worry too much at first.... but after I called all the local tow yards....I was almost in tears...

I went home depressed and laid in bed with an empty stomach....Around 4am we got a call and they said they found her crashed into a concrete divider on the highway. She needed a new bumper, new front lip and because she was taken for a joy ride the alignment was all messed up. As if the initial rape wasn't enough, they decided to scar her for life and keyed the hell outta the paint.

....Everything was repaired, the paint was decent...I thought seriously of selling her because it was such a financial burden and 'cause she was "taken for a ride..."

About a year later, I exploded the transmission and bent some valves. I had the transmission fixed and didn't know about the bent valves till much later. The car was still strong and returned me a 14.441 @ 95.61mph but had a rather strange loping idle. I figured it was the car's awesome "aura"

Several months later, the check engine light went on and was diagnosed as a misfire. I did a compression check and everything was good until the last cylinder showed 80psi

It took about 6months to get it all fixed up and I went for a dyno session where she bench pressed almost 180whp/120ft-lb with just an AEM and 2pce headgasket + testpipe

Later that year, I drove the car to watch some movie and came back to find her savagely raped once more. The thieves forcefully made off with the rear wing leaving a chunk of it still intact on the trunk. The also stomped on the lower portion of the bumper to tear off the front lip.....

Somewhere along the line, the car received mostly transmission upgrades in forms of a JDM 4.785 final, CM flywheel and Spoon pressure plate with ACT disc.

Today she sports a stripped interior, about 4 different shades of CW, a black rear bumper, missing emblems, a few dents and a motor that burns oil like a diesel....

For her 10th anniversary, I bought her some new shoes, a new gearset, a new cage, and a new damper kit too. She's been beat up...torn up...and is limping in her current state.... but she'll always be mine.

.....I can't remember the exact date I picked her up...but I'm inclined to believe it was on the 28th of July....

Um, dude, the name is P-R-E-F-E-C-T, I never claimed to be perfect.

Yes, I still have #90, and am her first owner. Picked her up on 8/16/97, I had no idea I would own her until the phone woke me up that morning, and the salesman told me that if I wanted her I had to be the first one there, so I was ;-)

I think she is currently at about 46k miles and still running strong.
