intake resonator
I've heard you can remove the intake resonator so that you can here the engine a little better without getting an after market intake. Where is it on a 97' prelude? How do you remove it? thanks.
it should be right under your stock air filterbox (if its like 4th gen)
and yes it is usless once you put aftermarket intake. Actually its usless all together!
RIP THAT $HIT out!!!
Just plug the vacuum line going to the intake control diaphram (line comes from IM on 4th gen)

Use a vacuum cap from the auto parts store. It is in the fender well, just unbolt and remove it...

Some bolts can be tricky to get to to unbolt the resonator. Just feel around and you'll get it. I just capped it by screwing a bolt into the rubber vacuum line! Ghetto but works.
And yeah you'll hear a deeper tone at mid and high RPMs. Sounds sweet

torque a larger sized bolt down the vacuum hole and E-tape the head onto hose (aka ghetto rig it) lol. My resonator had 4 bolts, two of which were tucked up high behind the twin tubes that go up into fender. Like he said you just have to feel around for them. I believe they were 10mm

No, the vacuum controls the diaphram that you might have noticed when taking it all out (diaphram controlled switch valve) The diaphram opens and closes that valve you see in resonator piping. If you cap it off, no vacuum loss occurs so pressure is maintained in the intake manifold. If you don't cap it, its essentially a vacuum leak and make your car idle a bit wierd (nothing major)
Here ya go. Everything you need to know and how to do it.
