When my warranty wears out....
I would like to swap in the S2000 drivetrain into my civic. How hard would this be? The width is identical, the wheelbase is about 10" difference (most of which would be overcome with a custom driveshaft), and they are both rather small motors.
Would an S2000 motor/transmission even remotely fit in that spot? Would this be nearly impossible with the drive by wire and digital speedo?

Where theres a will theres a way, however your talking about an entirely new chassis here. Both cars aren't even remotely identical. The S2000 has a "vertically" mounted engine vs your civic which has a "horizontally" mounted engine. You would need to move alot of components not to mention the modification of said components. Bottom line and I am sure most people will say this as well, why not just buy an S2000? Modifying your civic to be RWD although really cool and unique is a very difficult undertaking. Good luck either way!
Anything is possible with enough money and fab-work... worth it though? **** no. Youre better off just buying an S2k or modding the **** out of the civic.
RWD Civics are the coolest thing in the world. Like everyone said.. if you've got the dough then it can be done. It's going to cost a rediculous amount of money though. I cant help you with the drive by wire part but S2000's have a digital speedo as well so I doubt that would be a problem.
put down the Forza Motorsport 2! just because a video game lists a f20c swap as a mod for every honda doesn't mean it's an attainable goal for most people, or a worthwhile way to spend time and money..
anything is possible with enough money.. but just because it's possible doesn't mean you should do it.
This question has come up in every section of HT since that damned game came out... Turn off the Xbox guys

if im not mistakened, there was a thread on h-t where dude swapped in an s2k in an EK or an EG i forget. he used an adapter and used a k-series tranny.

I've seen an EK coupe.

You do know that converting an Si to RWD and stuffing an F20/F22 and tranny into a FWD car is going to cost money and be difficult.

I don't see why warantee is such an issue if the car is going to be modded to that extreme. RWD into a FWD chasis is going to be pretty costly swap.

they did this with an integra back a couple years ago. they were going to make a kit but I think the kit cost more than buying a new car lmao. so they never made the kit.
In addition it was down with a B20 and a CRV driveline. The company i think was called Braille

Seriously, a used S2k can be had for 17k now, which is less than an Si costs new. You can get a RWD V8 like a Mustang or a 4 like a Miata for next to nothing, plus any number of RWD 6's like Infiniti G35, Lexus IS300, etc. Jeez, just buy a new car.

I ONLY reason I could imagine someone would want to do this, is create a Civic drift car. Other than that, the cost would be more than it is worth. For what it would cost (including the price of the civic itself), you could probably buy a slightly used Nissan 350Z and slap on a couple of turbos.
In other words, really not worth it, in my opinion.

i was leaning more toward retaining the firewall
when my warranty wears out... ill do some measuring and research. if its remotely doable... i'll try it. if its not without MASSIVE cutting/welding (i could live with custom mounts for the motor/trans but cutting the firewall etc, no thanks) then ill abandon the idea.

Won't be possible. look under your car. now imagine a driveshaft under it. also try and imagine it connected to a transmission. Not to mention that transmission will most likly be mounted to the rear of your engine not the side.

I don't think you understand the concept of converting a front wheel drive transverse engined car into a rear wheel drive longitudinal engine. You're saying that because the car measures similarly on exterior dimensions, it shouldn't be a problem. You're testing the 10 pounds of **** in a 5 pound bucket theory here. Are you really 26?

Cutting the firewall would be an absolute must, and that wouldn't be the only thing that you would be cutting up to get that motor and trans in. No one has mentioned the cutting that would be required to mount the rear end. But I own an 06 Si, and thoughts of an F20 in my car have crossed my mind, but not in my Si, in my 86 'rolla!!!
