Default should i upgrade from viper 791 to viper 5900?

i have the 791xv but im considering upgrading to the 5900 for the 1mile range.

Im thinking i can sell my 791xv for around 120 with all all new parts from the 5900 minus the brain, antenna, and remote (used). so all i would be doing is switching the brain and antenna from the 5900 into my current 791xv wirings and sensors.

I can find the 5900 locally new for around 225, so do yall think its worth the 100 dollars extra just so i can have the 1 mile range? and also for yall who already have the 5900, how is the range when youre in the mall or movie theatres?

Do it, Range is great. And the price your getting it at is perfect. Thats below dealer cost.

thanks for the input. also, can the 5900 really re-use all the 791 wirings and plugs? just direct swap over with the antenna?

yep, just change the anttena and wire and your good to go. make sure thats a dealer you are buying it from. That unit has no warranty if not bought from a dealer. All dei items will be like this by the end of the year. Out of the 60 units so far that I moved since its release I only had two go bad.

If you want to change out to the Viper 5900, you need to swap out the brain, the shock sensor, and the antenna. Otherwise, everything else is plug and play.

No, they are not.

There are 2 different 2-way pager alarm systems. One has an LCD screen and the other has LED indicators to confirm actions or alerts. You can help determine what alarm you have by the specific remote you have.

If your car is manual transmission then you should get the Viper 5701 that just came out.

Its a alright unit, but the range sucks, the only cool thing about it is the slient mode so if the alarm goes off it does not sound the siren but pages the remote. But this does no good because the range on it sucks.

Well if someones interested here's a 5900 for $220 shipped, 2 year warranty through seller

http://cgi.ebay.com/VIPER-5900...wItem

I would like to have this one myself but i dont think i can justify spending the extra cash just so i get the extra range. i think i'll settle with a 791xv/python 881xp

Range is the same as the 791. I'm not really concerned with range since I got a 210. If I can start the car up from inside the house I'm happy.

if you gota carbon fiber remote, its gonna be a clifford 3.5rsx...if you gota all black remote, its gonna be a python 881xp...and if you gota blue remote its gonna be a viper 791 XV...but basically that number is corresponding to your type of remote you got which will work vice versa with the alarms i mentioned above which is all the 2 way pagers which 1/4 mile range
