Hi, i have an 02 EP3 the idles rough whenever i do a cold (when engine off for at least 10hrs). Whenever i start it the rpm would go to around 1800 for around (3 - 5secs) then slowly drop to about 500 for around (3 - 5 secs). After which it slowly corrects itself. This only happens on the first start and only when the engine is cold. I am thinking it might be a sensor going bad but i am not sure which one. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

 

No need to worry...my ep is like that too...In the morning when I get up to go to work and start the car, my ep idles at 1700 and then as it gets warmer, it starts dropping...

I don't think that is what he means.

It's pretty high for a few seconds then drops all the way to 500 rpms a few seconds later?

 

my ep just had a problem too.. it wouldnt get up that high at all, it would start at like 500 and idle there for like 10 seconds.. it was BAD, and scary.. but i replaced the plugs and it was all good.. who knows check your injectors or something like that, im not sure.. wish i could help you

 

My plugs are about 2 months and my injectors are about 4 months. This problem started happening about a week ago.
