Alright, I've been a little hesitant to ask this as I've searched, but I can't find anything on this topic.

Is there a book/magazine/forum post published that breaks down every detailing product manufacturer, their products, and how/when to use them.

I own a couple of books on auto detailing and general paint care, but nothing specific. How do I know that the product I'm using will perform the same on my paint finish as the book describes it if they don't list specifics? I have had good sucess detailing my cars over the years using Meguiar's pro-line of compounds/polishes/waxes. But what's the difference between their Xtreme tech wax versus Gold class wax versus Deep crystal wax versus etc. See where I'm going with this?

Now, I know what type of degreaser to use for what type of grease I'm taking off of what type of surface it's on, and when to use reducer instead of thinner, but I don't know when to use yellow wax versus straight carnuba versus polymer blend wax, or if Zymol makes a better product than Meguiar's. I just want to make sure I'm using the best product for the correct application.

I know this will spawn a subjective discussion just like the topic of motor oil, but I want to know if there is a detailing "Dyno graph" out there, or if a magazine has performed a "shootout" between manufacturers, or just something technical so I can make a educated descision rather than go off of the marketing propaganda printed on the bottle.
