Default door ajar light

ok, i was driving up the road, a normal straight road and my door light came on. i checked all of them and they were all closed. is there anything common that cuases this? or did one of my sensors just finally kick the bucket?

whatsup, below the door latches are little black rubber pins that you can push in take out the rubber cover , then remove the screw and make sure its not rusted, and check the wire on the inside of the pin, it might have come loose. remove the rust around where the screw goes in to make better contact.

im no electrician but it could be a short? im not sure.. i just this weekend installed a switch to override that door button. you could try disconnecting the wire and see if that works, but no more dome when you open your door.

do you happen to have an aftermarket alarm installed in the car ? if not try removing the trunk and the dome light, and then rplace the fuse see if it blows again. gotta try to eliminate the short source, door pins work with a negative pulse, those shouldnt blow the fuse.

ok, i popped out the dome light and the door ajar light now works like normal. i tried replacing the fuse and it popped it again. does this mean my problem is behind my headliner with the dome light?

did your remove the whole domelight assembly or just the bulb, the problem might be with the domelight switch, they wear out after time and cause a short.

i actually just removed the bulb, not the whole assembly

oh and i checked all the door ajar sensors, they're all good except for the one that is non existant(explains why the passenger door never activated the dome lights since ive owned the car haha)

a friend of mine gave me this diagram. so now i gotta find where the red/white wire goes throught out the dash and find the bad one. i have a feelin theres a bad spot on here somewhere. but first, i will yank out the dome switch to see if that fixes it, like suggested a couple posts up

nope, i actually found it by accident. i went to remove my antenna to sand the car and behold. there are wires all melted together back there. one of which was the red and white stripped wire(just like the dome lights) so i cut out the bad, put in some new and amazing it works now. i have no idea what made the wires melt like that tho.
