3M Painters Tape for Masking Your Front End...
Hey guys, I've got a road trip coming up and I've seen a lot of people put the blue 3M painters tape on the front of their car. I was wondering: does this stuff leave any sticky residue on your bumper, or does it come off pretty good?
Also, should I use the green tape for car paint instead? I kinda wanted to use the blue just b/c it's more subtle on the EBP. Thanks!

I've been wondering the same thing. I'm going to need to tape up the front end for the Nashville trip coming up. I always assumed it was simple blue painters tape from WalMart/Home Depot, but I'd like to double check before I do the entire front end.
In for info.

Definitely 3M Blue Painter's tape, light adhesive.
I use it for all my test spots, it leaves very light residue for me, but it may be caused by me buffing over it. Very light residue though, it can be wiped off by microfiber towel with ease...

it works great!

If you can find it, I like the Yellow Razor Edge tape from ShurTape. I work at a Sherwin-Williams store and we've used some around the store to see how it works and I love it. It can be peeled and re-sticked plus it sticks very well to itself.
And we all know how the color yellow adds HP

Yea, typically when people track there cars or go on long road trip they will do it.

The blue paint is the less sticky; but you may also want to look into a lamin-x bra; they sell clear film that you can apply over your front bumper; or you can even look into an OEM bra.
lol. i got the green painters tape when I was doing my paintjob and damn i shoulda got blue, green sticks real good and once you peel it off it leaves residue. residue gets cleaned away by mineral spirits easily. but it was a Pita
use the blue i just painted my car 2 weeks ago and the blue stays down when you hit it with the air where the green will peel up giving you a lot of clean up to do

i agree. im a former sw employee and the yellow shurtape is the best stuff going.
there are two different 3m blue tapes. one is regular and they other with orange on the label is super delicate. however, ill still stick with my yellow tape as ive tried all of them at the store and it works the best for the application
