2 heads are better than one, and 2 is better when getting head.

i'm in the bay area, but i recommend you send your head to http://www.alaniztechnologies.com and talk to joe. you'll probably get his vm so just leave him an email from the website. give him the specifics of what you want to use your car for, what year head, etc, how much is your budget (the most important thing) and what your goal is in the future, if any.

http://www.portflow.com is alrite, too. they're also in LA, though. i'm sure there might be a couple of good bay area shops, but the best on the west coast are down in LA, and if you're going to swap out the head, might as well do it at the best places.

good luck!

i personally know friends who have had horrible experiences with skunk2. they might have changed their ways since then (1 year ago), but in my opinion, you need to get dave to get the reliable work done. they often use apprentice mechanics (who are usually in college, and are working during their breaks between class). my friend had a ctr intake cam installed there last time, and dyno'ed. they guy overtightened all the bolts, didn't use gasket maker on the vavle cover, and didn't even tighten all the adjustment screws on the cam gears. result? in 1 hour of driving home in traffic, there was oil sprayed all over the inside of the hood, and the work pretty much had to be repeated again, by me.

in fact, i just got off the phone with them and dave and steve only do IN HOUSE porting now. they won't even do your car. so before you go on recommending skunk to people, maybe you should call or find out or actually have some work done there before you recommend shops.

yeah, i too have had some friends that have given skunk2 a bad rep---due to their poor jobs...etc

i spoke to DSR and they recommended portflow........but thank you all for the other SoCAL options---on my drive down there (different car), i'll bring my head...and hopefully get head, hahahahahah

anyone have anything to say about DPR (is that the acronym) or ERE? thanks

DPR's staff is now everywhere else. dan paramount used to be the best, but i heard internal disputes (salary and stuff) caused his main guys to leave. one of those guys is erick, from ERE ericksracing.com

erick outsources their headwork from joe. who owns alaniztechnologies.com

good luck buddy!

dnr a/k/a dave nyguen is a busy guy. i would try barber shop racing in san jose. it's on parrot street, by the costco or you can pm and i can give you my cousin's number, and he can PnP your head by hand. he's PnP'ed about 5-6 heads by hand so far.
