Default repairable?

well we went to the track this weekend & blew the head gasket in 1st round quali..

so we dicided to keep going with no water in the motor. we still took second so at least we got something.

so now here is what i am thinking i can weld most of this water jacket closed & leave a small area for water. will that be good for a sfwd car running high boost & high power?
or will it still be weak? also wondering have some of u guys done the same with this side of the head? (GSR)
thier is no signs of detination or anything just seems like the hg.. went & running without water took its toll.

now as for the block. thier isnt any damage internal or anything only a small inbration on the outer side of the sleeve. almost looks like it might be ok without any machine work. what do u guys think? the only thing that worrys me is agian the high boost & power

afr was 12.5 high point. timing was at like 15degrees.

i dont think it was that bad when it first went. but making a run with no water really took its toll.

really think the sleeve needs to be fixed? of surfaced

Where did the missing pieces go?
Most anything is fixable.

When you have the block checked by a shop you'll inspect and measure the bores.

Why did it push through in that particular area? Because its adjascent to the coolant port...which lead to auto-ignition/detonation?

but as u can see in the pic the valves piston ect.. is perfect condition. as if thier was no detonation. the first run we blew the gasket. but we thought it was just the radiator cap. the second run when we checked we noticed a 3 inch gash in the hose comming off the the back of the motor on the thermostat part. took the dizzy wire off cranked the motor & u could just see the compression blowing out the hose. so we drained the water completly did our bye run. the for the last race for 1st place we went all out. did a little 2nd gear burn out. then hit the 2step off the line ran the car half track shut it down. the last run with no water did its toll cause thier was no water in the heasd to help with the heat, so i would assume. car has been making over 500whp since last october. got drivin for 35000milles on the street & beat to all hell. then has ran down the track making over 600whp at leat 30times. so we figure. ti was time.

but wondering if anyone else has had the #4 cylinder blow out like that before so 2 the big *** water jacker right thier. we are welding it closed for the most part.

Sounds like my type of engine and car. I wouldnt have it unless I could drive it whenever I wanted.

Id say that both could be salvagable. I believe that the head could be welded up and possibly hold. Block doesnt look to be to bad either.

it will all be fixed by monday going to refresh the motor sending the head out for some extruding. weve basically cant get anymore power out of the car due to a stock head. ( stock valve size, & no porting at all)
