transmission/clutch noise???
Ok guys I'm a new owner of 01 S2K and I have down a search and didnt come up with any real answers. My S2K has a rattle when driving around everyday as long as I'm not hitting the gas. Basically every time in any gear whenever I'm not hitting the gas there is a rattle, and it get worse the higher the gear I'm cruising in. I'm checking the exhaust in a few days but was hoping someone has experienced the same problem and could comment. Also on some shifts the tranny seems to "clunk". Please Help!
It's normal for an S2k to be noisey, i have an 01 also. If the car drives fine and nothing else seems wrong then you don't have to worry about it. Just keep hitting the gas and listen to that engine sing

Please don't give false information.
It's best to catch a possible problem before it becomes one. Yes, s2000's are gernerally noisey (esp. in cold weather) but it depends on what kind of noise.
A rattle maybe a smaller simple fix, while a grind or loose metal grinding might be a big problem.
As to your problem I will leave it up to the HT community as i bet they have more exp. than I do in trouble shooting this area.

Sorry, I should have asked more specific where the noise was coming from. If it's coming from the transmission area it might be the infamous "clutch buzz". Here's a service bulletin on it

it sounds like it may be a clutch noise but after reading some posts on here I was hoping its nothing bad. My first thoughts was that the rattling is the cat's heat shield. I just searched for more info in case it wasn't. So does anyone know what the occasional Clunk noise is from the tranny. Every few shifts, even though it shifts fine, it sounds like the gearbox makes a big clunk sound, Opinions?
Clutch buzz; primarily during deceleration/engine braking.
Seat belt rattle; passenger seatbelt rattles against the door panel
CV-Axle wear; the cups on the inner cv joints have been known to wear (more rapidly on lowered s2k's) and the issue is noticable during acceleration. The vibration will increase with speed.
Trans 'clunk'; no real solution yet but most check the clutch hydraulics, clutch and trans fluid levels, and the driveline for loose bolts.
