ripped timming belt teath
Well not sure if you call this ripped, or torn or shredded off, but whatever. So i come outside to my car and try to start it, and it starts then falls on its face right away, i try again and it falls on its face. So then i try with giving it throttle and it stays on, but as soon as i let go, it dies. So a few buddies look at it and we cant seem to find out why it won't start, so i get it towed to my house, Luckily it was only 5 miles away, and my friend had his dads trailer handy. We pull the head off and find out that part of the timing belt is shredded. luckily i didn't bend any valves so i just got to put in a new belt in and re time it. BTW the timing was off by 180 degrees. My question is that what was the main reason for this, me not checking if the belt was tight enough, from driving to hard, I do drive it pretty hard almost everyday. It was also the original belt, and I have roughly 50 -60 k on the motor. Also are there any products out there that can help me keep the belt tighter, or do i just need to be checking it evrey so often. also what about those toda high power belts belts, worth it? I plan to turbo it later and have about 230 whp. any comments or suggestions are welcome.
The belt

thought id fix some dents while waiting for parts.

Have you ever removed the timing belt, or messed with the cover?
If no, I am not sure what would cause this.
Setting the tension is very tedious, be sure to follow the HELMS exactly as it says when you put the new one on, or this could happen again.
If you don't have a HELMS, you can download it here: http://www.hondahookup.com/manuals/
(Just register and find your car)
Also, how did you check for a bent valve?

closed the valves and then turned the head upside down and poured engine oil in it, and waited a day to see if any leaked through, none did so. Also they never hit when i was driving, in only started to happen when i started it, and i looked it doesn't looked like they even hit.
