Spring+Shock Questions
Well it's been over a year since I've owned the car and I haven't done much to
it besides what you see in my sig. Well at this point I really want to lower my
car. Some of you probably saw my other thread on Tanabe DF210s. I decided
not to get those anymore. I'm really looking at Neuspeed Race springs right now.
My civic has a 4 finger gap all the way around. (yes it's pretty high)
My questions for the neuspeed race springs are will the rear sag? I've seen
a few pics on the suspension post and some look great with the springs and
some of em' sag. I know neuspeed advertises them as 2.25" up front and 2.0"
in the rear. That's the main reason I'm so hesitant in getting springs. I really
don't want the rear-end sag. I know most of you guys would say "get coilovers"
but I'm a broke college student. Maybe in the future though..
As for the shock questions. I plan on running the springs on tokico blues. I did
some searching and some people with the race springs say it's fine but most say
get konis. As far as my driving goes I don't drive crazy. Point a to point b. I mainly
just cruise. I'm always easy on the suspension. Would these shocks be good
for my driving style? Also I know these shocks have lifetime warranty. How
does the warranty work? If these shocks were to blow will they get rebuilt
or will they send me new ones? I've emailed Tokico but I'm still waiting on a
response. Doesn't really say much on their site regarding their warranty.
PS: Also I know I'll def. need a rear camber kit.
That's about it..haha sorry for the long post! Just want to make sure before
purchasing.

Ok, if you're on tight budget get the neuspeed red. No need for you to buy a new shocks instead you can use your stock one. just my two cents.
EDIT: Btw if you go for neuspeed yellow(race) you must replace the stock shocks or else it will damage sooner.

im a broke college student but i got ground controls with konis. took me a year to save but its well worth it. as of now, im pretty slammed on the stock SI alloys. i say save your money and get yourself a nice shock/spring combo or coilovers
I would get Ground Control sleeves long before any lowering spring setup. They're pretty well known for their reliability and performance.
$300 Ground Control's:

$350+ Tokico's:

No, not really. If you want a super-slammed suspension, you may want to. But, in doing a slammed suspension, you'll need to do a lot of other work on the car to make it work properly. The tie rod ends would need to be flipped, otherwise you're going to have steering issues. And, that's just the beginning.

I don't see why they wouldn't be able to.

Tokico HP (blue) will most likely blow if you drop the car lower than 2". I would suggest an adjustable shock if you must go that low. Tokico D-Spec, Koni Sport (yellow), KYB AGX, etc. Stay away from the Tokico HP and KYB GR-2, they aren't meant to handle more than 1.5-2" drop.
In my opinion, I would be more concerned about my shocks blowing out than my rear sagging. When it comes down to the wire, I would choose a quality shock before I put my money on a set of springs. Springs can always be found cheap/used and undamaged however, the chances of finding used shocks are slimmer (as they blow).

what would be the best set up for a 01 LX in which I only want a 1" drop? And would I have to get a camber kit? As it looks like my rear tires are a little bit tilted already.

U will not NEED a camber kit although they are reccommended. I have H&R sport springs ( 1.3" drop F/R) and they are still within the OEM specs for camber, Therefore i haven't yet bought a camber kit.
As for the shocks, i would go for Tokico BLues ( HP's)

so what exactly causes the rear to sag? is it the shocks or a bad batch of springs?
I know extra weight in the trunk will cause sag. Which is why I'm removing any junk
in the trunk.
I guess suspension project will be on hold.. Need to save up on some
ca$h. hopefully looking forward to ground controls and koni/dspec.

Rear sag can happen for a few reasons.. weight (as you mentioned), spring quality, and spring design (Tein S-Tech are naturally lower in rear) are a few reasons.
I would put my money on shocks first.

I got my Tokico D-Spec (adjustable) from eBay for $500 shipped (seller jdm-in-stock). Koni yellows can be found for $550 shipped on eBay. Skunk2 sleeves are $260 shipped, and Ground Control sleeves are $330 shipped. A new set of quality springs will run you around $150 shipped. Front and rear camber kits can be found for under $100 shipped, bringing you to a total of $700-900 (depending on what products you choose, if you buy new or used, and where you buy).
