Default Which Tranny?

I'm planning on buying a transmission for my LS/VTEC setup. I have a b18c1 head on a b18b* (95 integra LS) block. I'm setting the car up for turbo. My question is, is there really a big difference between a Type-R tranny and a GS-R tranny, I see B18c5 trannys are a hell of a lot more expensive then the b18c1 tranny, is the b18c5 tranny REALLY worth the extra few hundred more? or will a b18c1 tranny do just fine.. There both LSD right? this is my first motor swap/setup, i'm still learning, any help with my questions will be appreciated..thanks guys..

no, the gsr tranny doesnt have an lsd.
I believe they were in option in japan though.

I think a gsr tranny would be fine... And I would prefer a quaife over a type r lsd any day.

The gsr tranny is not LSD. the ITR tranny may be geared too short for your liking. The ITR has a helical LSD though... but at the same time its more expensive. the ITR tranny is geared identical to a b16 transmission if that gives you a comparison.

its a type of lsd.

go to team-integra and do a seach for LSD in their article section, it will explain everything in full detail.
I have read that the oem lsd isnt all that great for boosted applications. People have said its night and day between a quaife and a oem.

Ill be getting a quaife for my setup within the next year.

Im just saying this that way you wont waste your money now on a tranny with an oem lsd, when i think you'll want to upgrdae again later.

Yep I've read that the OEM lsd isnt all the strong. And the gears are a bit too short for any amount of highway driving anyway. It eats engines... I have a b16 tranny in my car and its identical in gearing to the Type R

well as u probly know it depends on what size turbo and setup u have if ur runin low turbo on like turbonetics kit its different u can run lsd on it but it depends on what your power goals u want so it depends. i dont know what your runnin so tell us whats up and mabe we can give u more nwsers.

I have a GS-R head on an LS block. Integra Type-R cams, Type-R valves and springs, and a minor port and polish on the head. No work done to the block. I'm now considering putting a higher compression piston into the block and not going with turbo, and calling it a day. BUT, i still think i want the power that turbo would give me, no matter what i do. I'm very undecided. I know I'm gonna want an LSD tranny no matter which way i decide to go..

depending on how much power youre making off the turbo, i would say ls tranny all day long. you will be shifting constantly with a b16/itr tranny and your top end will hurt a little. a lot of people think ls trannies are crap. in most cases they are but in a turbo situation, if youre making over 300hp then i would stay with a ls and put an lsd in it. if not then stay with an lsd gsr tranny
