Default 87 Octane on Si...

Since Honda only has 87 octane at their dealership pump, is it bad to run on the Si? They gave me a full tank before I left and was wondering if it's bad? I know your supposed to use 91 or higher octane...

I've only got on it a few times, and who know how many times people have when they test drove it before me.

Your car calls for 91 or higher, so burn that tank out and use that from now on.

it shouldnt hurt it... the dealer did the same to me... i asked him what octane it used... he said 87... so i started to ask questions why? he got all tounge twisted... they dont know... they just dont care, well after talkin to him for a minute and explaining to him it says right on the gas tank door to only use premium... he said when i come back for my 1st oil change to get a free tank on them

I did it once too. Just got done driving the work truck, had to fill it, put in cheapo gas. Got back to work, and into the Si to come home, had to fill it, and just absent mindedly put 87 in the Si Burned through it without really beating the car, took it easy through another tank of 91 (best we can get here) and I've been fine since. That was 5k miles ago...

The ECU will compensate for the lower octane gas so that nothing is harmed. If youre super paranoid throw some ocatane booster in.
