Default No Catback, how loud? and how much power?

I'm planning on removing my Cat-back and putting in a bigger resonator. So I was wondering if anything had this done and how loud the exhaust is after Cat-back removal?

After talking to a couple of my friends they said I could be looking at 30hp gain roughly, so I wanted to know if anyone has gotten a dyno after removing there Cat-Back.

I plan on using 2.25 in pipes btw.

Thanks.

Wow.. gtfo is you're trying to be serious.

if you just Seriously believe your friends, go punch each of them in the face.

But, I doubt it since, you say you're "removing" the catback,
then you say you plan on using 2.25 piping, so you're putting a "bigger" catback on.

Either way .. you're not making 30hp off anything on one single mod like i/h/e.

loud as expletive. not much gains unless its a open DOWNPIPE for turbo, still not much gains just faster spool by not much.

If you remove your catback COMPLETELY, as in, nothing else after the header. You can expect to gain, 3-7 HP, depending on what exhaust system you had previously.

I.e. If you had an Apexi WS and you take it off, the difference wouldn't be all that grand. But if you had a stock LS piping (1.93 inch bleh) the difference might be more towards 5-7 HP gain. This is just being a little overcompensatative. To find out for real, you're just going to have to actually dyno with and without the catback.

don't forget to remove the most power robbing piece of the exhaust system, the header! yup, my friends said you can get another 30hp without it.

are you talking about taking out the CAT CONVERTER???, because that's what it seems like... then you want to use 2.25 in pipes.

if you remove your cat converter you'll be loud, and if you run an open header, your even louder. I'm not even going to comment about that 30whp gain.

i do this once in awhile when im bored with how my car sounds. it sounds awesome basically, almost like a ferrari 360 with capristo level 3.

you lose a lot of bottom end! i cant stress this enough. the top pulls really hard so what it does is basically move your power band even higher up than it already is. very impractical if you plan on driving it far. its also extremely smelly and smokes a lot.
