Default Prelude questions

Hi, I want to buy a fourth generation and i have a little bit confusion, so can u guys help? The fourth generation has like three base models right? The S, The SI, The vtec, right? Witch one is the better motor in it? I know that the vtec one has the h22a in it and is that only available in Japan? The si has a h23? is that right? and the S has a f22? right?? So the best one to get is the Si in america?

you can get a vtec powered prelude here just fine. all three models are available throughout the states. and yes, most power stock is an H22

no, a prelude Si, 92-96, are H23 powered and are not vtec.

available models are:
92-96 S and Si, both non vtec
93-96 vtec

so you are basically looking at S, Si, or vtec.

except in 93. honda call the all the prelude models "S","Si", and "Si VTEC". in 94 they dropped the Si part of the Si VTEC.

just an fyi, so if u put in the vin of a 93 vtec it will say SI

there was also an SE offered in america, and came with an h23

most people who have a VTEC 4g will list that in their sale add, it being such a sale point with that generation. Stock ones are getting pretty rare, but swapped ones are fairly easy to find, but then you could be getting into another can of worms. Good luck, you wont be disappointed, they're great cars.

I know that preludes are great cars and I want to own one but If i get one imma want the best and get the h22 one the vtec one. Come its a honda and no vtec for the si? But it seems that the stock vtec one the base vtec is hard to find is pretty rare now and people is just droppin in the h22 for the f22 and the h23. So imma just get an si prelude and play around with it for now. Oh by the way, Do you prelude lovers know what SH stand for in the 5th generation preludes? I think it stands for super handling and i got it off wikepedia and no one seems to believe me haha so what chu guys think?

yeah i found on and its a vtec model for a good deal , its a 96 prelude vtec with 130k, black, his moonroof don't work, no deck but thats ok i was planning to add an alpine swings to my cars anyways, haha he added an apexi vtec controller and an universial exuast to it. By the way the i think the moon roof only cost about 200 bucks to fix it rite?
