Trade my WRX for an RSX-S?
I wanted to get the opinions of you guys. I currently have a 2002 WRX, I was considering trading it for a 2003 RRP RSX-S. The problem is I owe 5000 more than what my car is worth, so if I trade then I will have to roll over that amount to a new loan with the RSX, putting my payment somewhere in the 400 neighborhood. Mileage from car to car is going to be about the same, somewhere between 40-50k, and the main concern I have with the Subaru is that its a pain to work on and the trans is like glass so I cant drive it the way I want to. I sold my EJ8 back in december because I thought I wouldnt be able to take it with my on my new job, but it turns out I could have kept it all along. I miss the ease of working on a Honda, especially considering its almost all I have ever known, so give me your thoughts and opinions!
Edit: What do you guys think of this one?

yeah its a tough decision, I think that the wrx has more potential but that comes with parts that are way more exspensive, for a decent tranny upgrade its around 5k, I can get a k swap in the honda world for 5k so its kind of hard to take a bite like that. How comfortable are the seats in a type s, I know that the wrx seats are nice, they dont hold you in as much as I like but I can drive a 4 hour trip without my back hurting

Maybe an a3 swap or k20a engine...

I found an 05 rsx-s with 31k for 15.5k, it has to have a salvage title or something because thats just too good of a deal at a dealership, Im going to call about it tomorrow

nah a3 swaps are cheap.. he's right, around 5k+ you can get the k20 engine but that doesn't include half of everything else you'll need. Roughly the swap, parts and labor would prolly come to about 10k. It's not a cheap swap i can tell you that.

well that was along the same point i was making, just for the trans is 5k, depending on what route you got there can be even more exspense encoured, and thats just in the trans thats not including all the other aspects

aah... i'd say go rsx-s as long as you can find a cheap one but don't get yourself into a financial dig. I've done that and it's not to great i'm still recouping from that. I'm almost caught up but i hurt my credit in the end.

well it shouldnt hurt my credit or anything because the bills will still get paid, i just hate upping my payment by ~80 for a car that is of roughly the same value, but i just cant get over the look of it. I went through about 60 pages of the picture thread yesterday and every time i saw the jade green with the white wheels and yellow fogs i fell in love. forgot which member it belonged to but my goodness its a beautiful car

Yes very much i agree with you on the look of the car. It is very sexy
I love my ABP rsx a lot. Well if you can deal with the 80 dollar more payments and not hurt yourself financially i'd say go for it.

What do you think of the ride and comfort of the seats? I have never been in an rsx-s so I dont know what the seats are like, mine in the wrx are relatively comfortable

i actually like the seats because they feel like they hug you. For long rides they are actually fine even with my lower back inury. The ride suspension is actually really good. It doesn't have the "civic" suspension feel to it. One thing i do hate in the car tho is the turning radius.. it sucks. It feels like your trying to turn a freakin boat around. But hey not everything is 100% top notch.
guess now my only venture is to see how you squeeze 250whp out of one of these, because that was/is my goal with the wrx, dont really have the need for any more. Turbo is fun, but i dont like the lag, does Jackson racing make a s/c for the rsx?
yes JR does.. and to squeeze 250 out of a k20a2 is not really hard.
RBC manifold
race headers
exhaust
CAI or SRI
k24/a2 hybrid (you don't have to do the hybrid, you could squeeze 220-230 hp out of the mods listed above the k24/a2 hybrid)
Hondata (this is the key to your car's power)- with a good tune for your mods you have done.
i'd take 220-230 n/a over 250 from a turbo'd car any day since the power is going to be instantanious and wont have to wait for something to spool.

oh there is no doubt that I want to, I was looking at rsx's before I got the wrx, and for some reason I thought that the turbo would make everything better, I should have done a little more research before diving in the way I did, now I am stuck with still going for the original decision, and its going to cost me more in the end. Who would have thunk it huh, haha. so I read about the headlight problem about bulbs burning out, whats up with that, any remedies?
yeah i guess you got into that "ooh it has a turbo from factory" kind of mentality which a lot of people tend to do.
to be honest I really haven't had any problems with headlight bulbs burning out. I'm guessing because he changed the bulb to the other kind it screwed things up. I'd just keep them stock. Stock bulbs will work just fine.

well it wasnt so much the turbo from the factory deal as much it was like most of the work was done for me. I have turboed hondas and it was exspensive and time consuming, but I forgot how fun it was and how many people I got to meet doing it
yeah i think turbo'd honda's are awesome and a turbo'd rsx is sexy. lol i also love meeting the other people who have rsx's. Went to the texas rsx meet.. had a good time.
I think the other part was I thought I had outgrown hondas, I had modified them just about every which way so I figured I would move onto something bigger and better, guess I should have looked to move up to bigger and better within the family huh

It was from Ash Auto sales wasnt it? I looked at that place. Dont ever buy salvage title car, it can be very dangerous if you get into another accident with it.
